Brexit and the Consequences

Utter chaos, but at least Brexit is still on the cards, no to revoking A50 and no to a people’s vote [emoji1360]

One fascinating and extremely annoying aspect of parliament that I was watching on Bloomberg Live is how disorderly it behaves. It took the speaker 20 minutes give or take to shut the peanut gallery of MPs up. It was utterly absurd. No wonder nothing ever gets done because it takes an age before everybody will shut up and listen to the next person who has been asked to speak by the Speaker.

Here I was thinking British people are polite. We may be cowboyish, loud and routy, but watching any kind of congressional hearing is like watching paint dry here. The flow is surprisingly efficient, yet we never seem to get anything done either. However, people who refuse to shut up when the Speaker of House speaks are promptly escorted out by Capitol Police.

Why does the Speaker keep saying, "the right honorable gentlemen .... " this and "the right honorable gentlemen ..." that? That also takes an age.

Apparently Boris will now support the May deal and JRM will if DUP don’t vote against, abstain will do. Beginning to look as though she’ll get it through.

One wonders whether they have come up with a plan to walk away from the deal after it’s been signed and May has left, There must be something in the pipeline for the sudden U-turn.

It’s parliamentary etiquette to call those MP’s in your party “Right honourable friend “. And those on the opposing party “Right honourable gentleman/Lady”. Even though the honour left them some time ago..😂

The sooner she makes way for a Brexiteer the better.

Oh is it really !

DUP have poured cold water all over it again and given that's the case, some ERG MP's won't support it either

I’m sure there’s been major collusion between No10 and the EU behind closed doors to deliver some form of Brexit but also keep us locked in to the union. What was agreed will never see the light of day.

We came to that conclusion a 1000 posts ago didn't we

Ultimately we are headed for no deal, even if the parliamentary idiots reach a conclusion on a deal, it won't be palatable to the EU, who will just reject, reject, reject, all these votes are a waste of time, roll on EU elections, let's have some extra fireworks (y)

If you were the EU or One of the leaders of a member country looking in on the UK situation. You would have to come to the conclusion that we are way more trouble than we're worth. The only logical position they can take is to kick our asses into the middle of next week(y) Why on earth would they even want our representatives in their parliament in Mays election? TM has indicated she will depart if we pass her crappy deal, so there's no continuity for them there. If her deal doesn't pass, they will have to keep on listening to her whining on about getting our parliament to agree this and that. They know full well that our time is up, that we have blown it, not good enough to get a deal.

Yep, if I was them, i'd deffo kick us out without a deal. We are the biggest bunch of ungrateful schmucks that ever walked the earth! (y)

Come on Macron.....make a name for yourself. Your political legacy depends on it. 500 years from now you will be mentioned alongside all the great Frenchie bigwigs. You know it makes sense......do the right thing.

?got ‘til 12 April now haven’t they.

I don't know, i'm beyond caring.

No support in parliament for anything including Mays deal. Any agreement on a way forward to be decided by 12th April. Yeah right....like that's gonna happen.

EU would be mad to offer further extension just to continue with the same pantomime.

Well done all our MP's, you have brought about CV's desired outcome.(y)

We still don't believe any of your outrage.

FlipFlopper.

FlipFlopper you say.

Do you not find it unethical flip flopping that Boris should agree to the deal if TM steps down?

Another despicable utterly dishonourable a55wipe of a man to step up to the position.

Same goes for Moggy. Changing his tune.

Now Govey still with his eye on the PM role disowning any temporary leadership.

They are such a bad crop of potential leaders with no ethics, honour or morals to lead the nation. It is of course not about the country but more about their egos, financial wealth and quest for power.

Utterly shameful conduct.

They voted against your desired outcome as well :D so, they’ve voted not to leave without a deal and they’ve voted against every deal that anyone could dream up. Big success for them “taking control” that, they must be as proud as punch.

Never mind, the EU will help us out and concoct a form of words that makes the backstop more palatable to the DUP (that and few more sweetners), then they’ll support May and so will enough others. Easy easy, it was May’s all along :)

And I thought Att was the biggest dreamer .

It doesn't matter a jot that they voted against No Deal. How many times do I have to tell everyone. Without a withdrawal agreement in place, then No Deal exit is the default which is already passed into law.

Yes, it’s the default alright but it’s the thing they don’t want most (nor do the EU) so they’ll do all they can to avoid it - either cobble the May deal or delay. You want to listen to your boss man, JRM, whom you hold in such high regard. He is going to vote for the May deal (if DUP come in line or, at least, stand on the sidelines) precisely because he no longer thinks that no deal (his preferred option) is possible. He’d prefer the May deal to get the show on the road even though he doesn’t like it.

Lets just apply some logic here. Bearing in mind, none of these options were voted for.

Motion (M) Confirmatory public vote
For: 268 (Against: 295)
Motion (J) Customs Union
For: 264 (Against: 272)
Motion (K) Labour’s alternative plan
For: 237 (Against: 307)
Motion (D): Common market 2.0
For: 188 (Against: 283)
Motion (L) Revocation to avoid no deal
For: 184 (Against: 293)
Motion (B): No deal
For: 160 (Against: 400)
Motion (O) Contingent preferential arrangements
For: 139 (Against: 422)
Motion (H) EFTA and EEA
For: 65 (Against: 377)

Motion M is MP's copping out by suggesting that the public should sign off on any deal passed by parliament. Not just May's deal, but any deal.
Motion J is remainer MP's, who have a natural built in majority in the house, failing to back this motion because they know it goes against the UK's ability to make independent trade deals, on top of which, we just become rule takers and have to abide by ongoing EU law.
Motion K is Labour's wishy washy non EU leaving customs union and close ties to single market. It's just total nonsense....it's not leaving and it's not Brexit!
Motion D is the same as motion K. Non starter for the same reasons.
Motion H No support for it. Dead in the water.
Motion L If this was passed there would be instant riots across Britain.

Motions B and O Which have the highest votes against. The reason for this is very simple to understand. MP's registering their votes in these categories so that when the day of reckoning comes, they can point to the fact that NO DEAL came about but they voted against it. These Two categories are a stunt aimed at the dumb electorate who believe what MP's and political parties tell them. It's the politician's excuse equivalent of a delinquent teenager telling the teacher "sorry miss, the dog ate my homework"
