Brexit and the Consequences

It’s becoming clearer by the day that there’s never going to be a deal on the table that enables us to “free trade” whilst unbending us from the very things that make brexiteers hot under the collar - ECJ primacy, free movement etc.

If there's a scramble to replace TM with say JRM or Sajid Javid, I wonder what the result will be, Labour will be calling for a general election, Brexit negotiations will be in more disarray, Remoaners will kick off larger than an anti-trump protest, the SNP will get a hacksaw and start cutting along Hadrians Wall, likewise SinnFein. London will float itself down the Thames.

But will it result in a no-deal Brexit?

It`s not just the UK that is worried about Ireland's border. Dublin is, also, nagging Brussels about it.
Remember that Eire is a member. It takes two to tango but it only takes one to veto.

They are pursuing their interests. If there is a hard border what better place for biz to locate than Ireland. Same language short flight boat ride. Lovely green Ireland.

Can you imaging having global access to EU market being on the periphery whilst being a super spot for US trade.

Why would Ireland vote with UK for open free border removing such a FANTASTIC advantage? Not to punish to UK but to pursue self interest.

Each day Brexiteers look more clueless. JRM, Gove and the rest questioning why do we need to have a border. What if we don't have one, but they can - so they suggest...:LOL::LOL:

Gotta laf. Incompetency in heaps and bundles with this lot.

Yes and add rules and regulations on trade to that list as well.

It is an IMPOSSIBLE request from Brexiteers exit manifesto. We don't need EU rules and regulations. What a load of tosh. (n)

Can you imagine a bilateral deal with no mediation but referring judgement to Parliament and British courts only. Unheard of. Bit like UK saying if you want free trade with us you will adhere to our Parliament. Don't get me wrong. I'd be thrilled if they can make this fly but I just don't see even banana republics tearing up their freedoms to be ruled by us... I guess I could be wrong :whistling

Alternatively, can anyone imagine the proposition of a third party proxy institution to sit between Parliament and ECJ to mediate between disputes and law of all sorts. So they don't call it ECJ but something else and save their lying faces humiliation in public. Assuming Brexiteers understand what we are talking about. Honestly :LOL::LOL:

The whole globe, diplomats and negotiators laughing stupid at the suggestions on what pickle UK got her self into. Knickers in a twist indeed.

Ignoring the express mildly skewed up writing Dicky Dearlove is very much old school and if left to him he would have UK joined up at the hip with the US of A. We'd not only be buying US satellite intel, but also Abraham tanks, US frigates and chlorine washed chickens too. Why not scrap Trident and buy cheaper nukes from US at the same time.

Anyhow, someone of his position wouldn't just simply speak out of turn. All part of
negotiations. Ex spymaster speaks out against Galileo. Yes very good show. Sock it to the Europeans how we don't need them as we have our cousins which we are more in harmony with. We can build a better one on our own.

If you believe all that, then there is the big elephant in the room not mentioned. Galileo is not just a military satellite but has domestic consumer usages as well as opening up future technologies. Does the UK want to be tied to the US?

US is a falling star not EU contrary to gross misrepresentation of alternative facts.

Wait till tariff wars start between the two and UK will have another headache to manage besides Brexit fiasco.

Somehow, I don't think chickens are part of the military industrial complex

At least someone is speaking up for us Brits

There are more ostriches than elephants in the remainers room.

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day. :whistling

I have just ordered a 500 ounce bag of popcorn, waiting for the tariffs wars to start.

This article is well worth reading about the consequences of an ageing population.

What is perhaps more alarming is ageing, obesity and really some people in horrendous circumstances being looked after by loadsa health care specialists needing 24x7x365 support. There are live in carers in some extreme cases. It seems people don't have family at all. Or they do but easier and cheaper to have state look after invalids.

These people are of low IQ or have learning difficulties. Then there is obesity which accompanies lack of activity which, doesn't help as bathing cleaning washing requires minimum two carers plus mechanical contraptions for getting people in an out of baths.

Then some people are death or worse blind. Coupled with rising propensity of ailments related to old age with people living longer, creating a great burden on health care at exponential scale. So if we are paying 20bn now just for the elderly, it's going to be considerably more in years to come as post WWII baby boomers reach retirement age.

Europe and US in same pickle. Going to be worse for Norsk country's with their small population sizes.

The future for the elderly and the young is going to look awfully brown in more than one sense of the Word.

Theresa May announced extra help for the NHS with Brexit dividend.:LOL::LOL:
That seriously is one big funny joke. ;)

EU Army or NATO ?

Farage is talking about Italian's leaving...

Let them. Europe doesn't need laggards. The people though if it ever came to it as in the UK like the Welsh, the Scotts and the Irish and soon rest of the country will begin to feel the wind of change.

UK was 5th in the GDP table and 2nd largest economy in the EU before Brexit so it may stand a better chance of weathering the fall out but impact will be severe and Finance, medical and now the motor industries along with aircraft manufacturing are beginning to feel consequences.

I was absolutely astounded by one argument put forward on Radio 4 by some dim wit daft remarkably ignorant speaker suggesting tariffs will not hurt but benefit the UK economy. His justification was that...

- UK would raise tariffs or not charge them at all to speed up flows AND
- Any tariffs charged by EU is immaterial because fall in the price of the pound will more than offset any tariff rises on UK goods exported to the EU.

I hope you guys can see the desperation of this argument. I won't go into JRM territory of importing inflation leading to rising interest rates to prop up the pound or reduced purchasing power of British wages as a consequence.

I mean the whole argument is so ridiculously wrong on sooo many fronts your average Brexiteer may think Christmas has arrived early but his in for the shock of his life coming to you very soon if a disorderly exit comes about.

Question is, will our Novichok industry move to tariff free zones after Brexit?

Don Dinero has no friends when it comes down to profits.. If it pays companies to leave, they will leave.

Because of the independence question (like Brexit, still not clear) the cream of Catalan industry has moved registered offices into other parts of Spain. Banks. like CaixaBank.

Independistas say that it does not matter, they, still, are available to the Catalan consumer. Of course they are but it's a question of where the tax gets paid. I understand that 1,300, big and small, have gone, already. I did not know that there were that number!

So, whether they leave the UK, depends on what the incentives will be for staying.

Starting to look like Brexiteers have been well stuffed & double crossed by May after the Chequers meeting. What a load of weak & feebles the Cabinet Brexiteers have shown themselves to be. Perhaps it will all unravel like a bad budget but if not - they should remember what happened to Clegg when he welched on his word.

I wouldn't worry about any of this nonsense, These ridiculous remoaner proposals will never get past the EU and May could well be out on her ear, then the fun starts.

I'm not so sure, it's been a stitch-up from the beginning, there is a reason a remainer was made PM in the first place. It's a very weak starting position to negotiate with the EU, who will just want more. The softest of the softest Brexit, there will be no meaningful Brexit with these muppets in charge.
