Create your own Charts

bonsai: Thanks again for pulling it all together. Somehow I failed when you first introduced us to html. Will try again. Thanks again
for an interesting thread.

Bonsai, was able to download this yesterday.Gave it one more go and success. Is it possible to write one's own charts. Are there any links that you know of to sites that deal with this?Just for interest's sake.

trying to guess what you really mean.

do you mean write code that selects the actual underlying data ?
to try and use it as a data feed perhaps ?
no way.
It is possible to pick off streaming data but you have to be into
ActiveX and API's to do that. But they would soon shut you down.

lol

ambition burns brightly ?

not in a hundred years of blue moons. !

but

if you have an account with d4f, their price quotes can be
captured from their quote window

give me a pointer to the charts you are interested in and I will have a look.

serves me right ! I put up that comment on the basis of what
someone else was doing and now I can't find their post.

If anyone reading this was the one, put us out of our misery ?
searching for previous posts can be a real pain.

I will try and find it for you.

Currency charts?

Wondered if it's possible to get these realtime (though manually refreshed!) charts to do currencies? Have look around a couple of the sites quoted but can't find what symbols to use for currencies - like EUR/USD for instance?

Any ideas?

why manually refreshed ?
do I gather you have not read the thread ?

should be on auto

wont work with fxcm

if you find a site that has one that works , please let me know.

Why not real time ...?

Bonsai: Why not real time ...?

Because don't want large volume of net traffic to my PC, whereas the odd "manual" refresh of those charts at the top of the thread wouldn't end up with a realtime stream of data running in the background.

Sorry - when I said realtime, I was thinking of up to the minute charts, like if I take a yahoo chart it's 15 mins behind, which is a bit of a problem if you're watching the 5 min timescales! And hardly helps in reacting quickly to some quick change in the rate.

But thanks for the info so far. Let's see if someone can find the symbols for currencies for some of the static charts!
