Brexit and the Consequences

Not accurate at all.

You can get creative, slice and dice any way you like.

Democratic will of the people - 34% for Brexit, rest 66% simply not interested in hard brexit.

Numbers game innit. Don't add up. Dooohhhhhh. o_O

La la la la la.

We're not listening.

Hi At',
I'm not normally one to blow my own trumpet, but I think my logic is clear and well reasoned. As for the numbers not adding up, I think you'll find that mine do, which is more than can be said of the YouGov poll. If you total up all the parties, they come to 101! Proof - if it were needed - that polls aren't that reliable. Because of this, my assumption is that the Brexit party will do even better than the poll suggests - and the results of the EU elections will leave the two main parties quaking in their boots.
Tim.

The EU vote next week will be a proxy second referendum/meaningful vote/confirmatory vote. Whatever way you look at it, all parties except Brexit have good reason to be very worried. It's no longer just about Brexit, Joe Bloggs Average has rumbled the career politicians, the uselessness of the 2 main parties and the ineffectiveness and irrelevance of all the rest. They see Farage as their saviour and will vote accordingly. Where we will be in 10 or 20 years time – who knows?

I recognise what you both say and concur.

However, even if Farage becomes PM forms a cabinet he will still have to get his proposals through Parliament via votes.

I'm happy with our current democracy, Parliament and HoLs.

I think it may be good as it will highlight what a useless mouthpiece he is. It's all about the delivery. Not about the talk.

Best wishes to you both and Farage (y)

Real test for Farage – who should walk the EU elections & Peterborough by-election– will be his policy proposals for going into a general election. Plenty of room for cockup but on the other hand he & his candidates don't have any baggage worth talking about. And he will have to keep the momentum going – Conservatives will do all they can to avoid an election but Jezza will do all he can to "help out" 🤣 My homegrown EOD EA says that a general election will come sooner rather than later & that Farage will enable a temporary Jezza minority government which, at the appropriate time he will bring down. With a defunct Tory party & little credible alternative, he will then take over. We then restart the usual cycle of eventual dissatisfaction etc .........

Of course ......... might be the odd Black Swan sailing by

There is plenty of baggage in the Brexit party already, lots more shenanigans to come before a general election.

Let’s have your predictions ladies and gents.

I predict a Brexit whitewash next week, prompting a collapse of the Tories, a leadership contest won by Boris followed by a general election resulting in a Tory/Brexit party coalition ending in a no deal majority followed by a WTO Brexit.

Not forgetting quite a few stagnating years for the EU if not a complete change of direction.

Well, yours is the word of Gawd, signal, so it must be so :)

Sounds to me like you are politically homeless at the moment Jon, given the fragmentation of the remain vote between Cons, Lab, Lib, Green and that other party that no one is quite sure the name of ! Wot a total shambles and all brought about because parliamentarians decided that they knew best under a treacherous remain leader.

Anyway, it's probably not too presumptuous of me to claim victory in the No Deal Brexit stakes, because as of now we still don't have a deal and the likely hood of getting one are about the same odds as winning the lottery.

The stakes have never been higher for the EU and their socialist, centrally planned, superstate project. And as such i'm sorry to say it's over for the political EU because the people of Europe have had enough of it. This is not just a UK populism issue, it is Europe wide. But one of the biggest mistakes made by the EU was to think that they could go up against the Brits and win. That was never going to happen. We have more than enough allies all across European countries. We have a long history of fighting for democracy and against oppressive dictatorial regimes, which of course the EU is.

As for the upcoming UK politics.

The Brexit Party will smash the rest into the ground at the EU elections. (people power)
The Tories will not pass Mays deal, or any kind of Con Lab fudge. At which point they hold a leadership election where a Brexiteer wins through. I suspect it will be Raab that emerges victorious.
Then the govt limps on for a bit. But behind the scenes, I expect whoever becomes leader will get into secret talks with Farage's Brexit Party in order to devise a general election strategy based on keeping Corbyn's marxist party out of power. Tories will concentrate on the South and the Brexit party will throw all their resources into Labours disaffected North and Midlands.
Between them, I expect they will get enough seats to form the next Govt and particularly if the Tories get on message.

After the general elections, I expect a No Deal to be implemented and whilst the EU scramble about with their own internal struggles as everything collapses around them, we will be in a much stronger position to dictate trade terms. ( basically, they will come grovelling cap in hand for a trade deal coupled with any other arrangements the UK would like to be part of)

These kinds of remaniac tactics will simply galvanise support for the Brexit cause.

Remainers having lost the arguments and the vote now resort to desperate measures. Good luck with that !

https://www.westmonster.com/remainers-blocked-road-near-brexit-party-public-meeting/

What’s this? Antifa moving into the mainstream? After a couple of years of disrupting TR & For Britain campaigns and hustings they think they can do it to the Brexit Party now? What did the police do?

All those warnings of the violent left now coming true, authorities need to stop being complicit in these actions. Local council involvement in collusion with law enforcement as we saw earlier in the week in Carlisle?

The Con/Lab negotiations end without agreement. Mrs. May to step down (hurrah!) after bringing back her deal for the 4th time which Labour have already said they won't support and will, almost certainly, be defeated. Boris is in pole position to be next PM. The Brexit party's set to win next week's EU elections with a landslide - even Mr. Negative here is starting feel as if the doom'n gloom is beginning to lift. 'Bout time too!
:D

Yeah, there are no FIA (fckitall) candidates.

We’re just back from our couple of months in sunny Europe. Interestingly, everyone I chatted to had plenty of moans about the EU but, without exception, none of them wanted to leave what they saw as an extended family. Always announcing themselves as from their own country, but very comfortable with being European. Not a scientific study, of course, but there doesn’t seem to be a strong clamour to leave.

I guess we’ve never been as comfortable thinking of ourselves as Europeans.

It’s a great pity that we might arrive at no deal by default rather than intention. Then, as far as I’m concerned, we will have taken back control by deserting a modern freighter and jumping onto the dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack of John Masefield’s.

Dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack butting through the Channel in the mad March days, With a cargo of Tyne coal, road-rails, pig-lead, firewood, iron-ware, and cheap tin trays.

Why do people confuse being a member of the EU with being European. Who is it that thinks in those terms?

No-one is leaving Europe and we don’t think of ourselves as less European by leaving the EU.

Lots of confusion amongst EUrophiles, that still don’t understand the fundamental reasons for leaving THE EU.

It's that same old glaring fruity nuttiness of your expectation contrary to all evidence coming from EU.

They are united despite TMs effort to divide the 27 member states. In contrast it is the UK that is looking more like braking apart than EU to me.

Europeans, watching the shenanigans in the UK, even helped shut up the other Eurosceptic parties in the other EU states who were angling for exit from the EU.

It's like EU was only successful because UK was proppping them up. Not that UK struggled 11 years to get in because UK was falling behind in the league tables.

So they will collapse and UK will ascend and they will come back and beg us for a free trade deal, something they all already have with the EU and 60+ countries else where.

So far fetched notion of an idea it's closer to planet Pluto than mother Earth.

The make up of the EU parliament will be very different after May 23'rd.

You don't have to take my word for it. Look at the individual country betting odds and follow the money!
It will not be business as usual
