Brexit and the Consequences

Swiss are well adjusted people.

Not bovered about taking back control. Happy bunnies. Respect! (y)

Swiss vote no in sovereignty referendum

Of course, it doesn't mean they have any less control. It just means they are global players. :)

Figures based on partial results give 67% against and 33% in favour, national broadcaster SRF said.

Critics said the proposal would have damaged the country's global standing.

A proposal to subsidise farmers who do not remove their cows' horns has also been rejected.

The rejection of the sovereignty proposal is a major blow for the right-wing Swiss People's Party (SVP), which put it forward, says the BBC's Imogen Foulkes in Geneva.

Major blow for the right-wing peoples party. That's ironic isn't. Right-wing peoples party. Really now, what a daft ridiculous name is that? Fascists kill anybody who disagree with them including their own people.

Poor CV, his vision of Europe turning right just not happening. Italy, Sweden, Holland, France; one by one they are turning away from extremes.

The SVP argued the measure would have bolstered Switzerland's autonomy and national identity.

This means the right-wing have an identity crises. They want to change rules to strengthen their identity. Rules and laws don't make up an identity. It's what you are, what you feel and how you conduct your self that determines who you are.

Some people are soooo stupid.

Good to see Great Swiss people rise above the BS of the right-wing.:love::love:

Glad to see that people mainly seem to have learnt the painful lesson of rejecting the extremist Right and Left wings.
Extremism allows the psychopath killers loose on the people to satisfy their bloody ends.

The siren like lies of the extremes can be tempting but should be firmly rejected.

The EU lives and breathes its identity through its rules and regulations. It’s how it created itself out of thin air.

Without British cool the EU will be a lot less attractive to invest and live in.
The lurking right wingers are champing at the bit to impose Fascism again. We are well out of the ongoing mess across the channel.
Most countries can do alright outside their stupid restrictions and so can we.

Eventually

Have you ever met a brexiteer who knows the EU is against us but can't say why?
They know they infringe lots of controlling laws on us, but can't name any.
They voted leave but are not really sure why, other than something to do with "control."

I think the answers to all your questions are here:
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/sites/beta-political/files/draft_withdrawal_agreement_0.pdf

It's a long document though – 585 pages!

Super link and good post Jason.

Just having a browse and came across just one article.

No EU plan to ban Union Flag from British meat packs

Media reports of an EU plan to ban the Union Flag from British meat products are not true.

As explained to The Daily Express before it published today’s article – similar ones have also appeared in the Mail and Telegraph, which did not even contact us – European Commission proposals on the labelling of pre-packaged fresh meat (from sheep, goats, poultry and pigs) will not prevent the use of the Union Jack or of other EU Member State flags. Neither will they prevent the use of additional geographical labels such as Welsh or Scottish. Private logos such as the Red Tractor logo will still be permitted, too.

The Commission is looking to introduce clearer labelling of Member State origin. That will make sure that when customers buy meat labelled as British they know it really is British and not, for example, just imported for slaughter. This will be done without placing unnecessary burdens on producers and retailers.

The Express report – and others in some specialist media – seem to be based on incorrect information received from various sources, including Defra.

Current discussions are focused on “compulsory rules” for labelling of pre-packaged fresh meat – including the clearer specification of Member State of origin mentioned above.

The use of flags and private logos is a different issue. It will be covered under separate proposed rules on “voluntary labels”. This is because – while the Commission has no intention of banning flags and other logos on pre-packaged meat – it does not intend either to propose making them compulsory.

The daily trash running amok. I guess it's a way to sell papers.

Can you imagine the headlines once we leave? Then it'll be REAL all out war about them horrible Europeans, beatings and punishments.

No worries though! Those papers will maintain our true British identity. That's all that matters. They'll speak up for the common average man and protect our true values and principals.

War will be declared and all the unemployed will join the army again to go and kick Hans ar5e. We'll show'm. Dooohhhhh

I understand that it's just a brief summary of the discussion taken place since the referendum

Hands off our barmaids’ boobs

Pop quiz, which best selling top British newspaper put this story out:

Hands off our barmaids’ boobs

The EU has declared a crackpot war on busty barmaids – by trying to ban them from wearing low-cut tops

A: The Sun
B: The Telegraph

Answer:
https://blogs.ec.europa.eu/ECintheUK/brussels-bans-barmaids-from-baring-chests/

Ok, my bad, I played a little trick on you, of course, the answer is both.

I am beginning to see a pattern here.
These newspaper seem to spend their time protecting the businesses and people with more money at the expense of protecting the actual worker.

I have a personal involvement with a company contracted to complete gardening work for local authorities.

After the EU made this recommendation. The contractor firm I am involved with issued a letter to all staff with sun protection recommendations and made it clear that everyone is encouraged to collect sun block free of charge from the office.

In a workforce of 50, there are currently 3 employees fighting off skin cancer.
What's not to like?

How about the truth in a headline?

"EU saves life's by reminding employees of the risks to their employees"

Well it wouldn't sell papers and it places more responsibility on employers to consider their employees welfare. (next you will be telling me that newspaper editors are wealthy employers with wealthy friends and wealthy employer advertising clients and these editors also employ wealthy politicians on their boards or employ column writers who are wealthy politicians who are leading leave campaigners called Boris to write a few inches for thousands and thousands of pounds.

By the way has anyone ever looked up the differing life expectancy combined with income brackets.
If not it's only a quick Google search away.

Now, now, Jason, play fair.

You should have realised that on this thread everything about the EU is bad, bad, bad. And anything that smacks of being good is fake news

Anyone that believes what mainstream media writes is frankly an idiot! If you buy a newspaper or pay to get behind the paywall of these MSM news outlets then you are a double idiot.

It's nice to see the EU debunking British MSM myths, they deserve all they get. I disagree to paying tax to maintain an anti-propaganda page such as this though, good job we are leaving so someone else will be paying for it.

Do they also provide anti-propaganda pages for every other EU members' MSM or is it just targeted at British MSM? Maybe because it's English speaking? Maybe because British MSM are the only one's coming out with fake news, or maybe because of........Brexit?

You remainers trying to tie in an anti-EU regulation mindset with leavers are really scraping the barrel again, aren't you?

No-one has said that everything about the EU is bad, just most of it, we are at liberty to pick and choose you know :cheesy:

I don't see much comment regarding TM's 'deal', I take it you are all happy with it?

So the company you contracted for ignored all the MSM crap and went ahead with adopting the recommendation? Good on them, common sense prevails, you should congratulate the management for being pro-active in their thinking and taking steps to look after it's employees, as they should!

No company wants future litigation for skin cancer when an employer has not provided suitable safety equipment, especially following a directive issued by a higher authority that means litigation would be much easier to enforce. Now that would have been a more truthful headline. The EU protecting business and workers, it's not rocket science.

Now, imagine those same employees, off to sunny Spain, lying on a beach mostly naked, plastering themselves with factor olive oil........

Ah, it’s the picking and choosing dream that’s turned out to be shattered in the cold light of day

So far as TM’s deal is concerned it’s worse than being in and only half way to being out but a necessary compromise if we want to have a favourable relationship with EU (more than just trade involved in that). The no deal alternative would be like jumping into a stormy sea without a life jacket and there’s not many who would go down that route voluntarily although we’d survive if pushed.
