"..we are only simple latinos!!"
No disagreement there.
No disagreement there.
Hola Comandante CO. ¡Me hizo reir! Cosa que los paises de Latino America tiene fama.commanderco said:Hola Tape, lovely to hear from you.
I said that I would participate if they could lay on a decent Malbec or even a chardonnay
would do and we would make a day of it.... not to be sadly. The best offer was pepper spray and cheese and I am off cheese at the moment.
Am I a leftist activist? No, I hold a glass in my right hand!
And yes, there should be no outside meddling in your little war, we have our own oil.
Incidentally, last time an Oil Co tried to raise prices here the entire nation boycotted the little buggers and they (Shell Oil) still have not recovered.
Our beloved Presidente told the Internationals that as they raised prices at the pumps he would raise their export taxes accordingly. Consequently, fuel is slightly cheaper here than it was when we first arrived 18 months ago, but what would we know about smart business, we are only simple latinos!!
I see your Pres has just dropped to 35% in the polls. Here a snap business poll had him at 15% and 17% in Brazil.
If I recall correctly, by way of comparison, Clinton dropped to 55% when he mistook his pecker for a cigar. Actually my wife has a beautiful gold cigar lighter with which she could have brought Bill up to speed in the time that it takes to scream.[
Saludos from fun city./COLOR]
Are you a leftist activist?
You know you don't have to stay in the SCUM, PIT. There is a brighter world out there! All this anti-american stuff ain't good for you. I disapprove of Europes leaders. Do you hear me trashing them? No! But you guys can't wait to trash the USA. You need to grow up . I too am against our present foreign policy. I don't like Europe's either but you don't hear me saying horrible things against your country and leader do you? You guys are so full of anti-american sentiment that it clouds all reason. The only way I see out is my vision of the perfect America. But then, the world would hate us even more if we did it. For my idea of the perfect America see my previous post to el commandante above. So, I guess you guys are stuck with us the way we are. But I can tell you this. I would be against US defending any part of Europe in a war. If it weren't for America the world would be under Hitler now. But you probally think it would be a better world under Hitler. We saved Frances hide in WW2 and Englands too but I would be against defending those countries because of their attitude towards us now. The more you do the less you are appreciated. Maybe better to NOT do. Ungrateful attitudes! Long Live the USA!!Pitscum said:ehh? i took the queen's shilling many years ago but i object to usa's current foreign policy (as do some serving mates i still know). why do you americanos always jump on the leftist tag to explain someones total and utter dissapproval at your glorious leaders f++k up of your country's image in a whole region of the world???? jeez christ. grow up.
Tapewormtoo said:I am against free trade. All it does is cause problems..bad feelings. Best to let each country have their own trade and technology. I am for the USA pulling out of the U.N. I am for cutting foreign aid. All we get is compaints and more complaints that we don't do enough. I am 100% for the U.S. becoming totally self-sufficient and just letting the rest of the world do what they want to do. I am 100% for star wars and building the strongest millitary and defense system so no nation would want to ever attack us and then just leave the rest of the world alone. No world summits. No free trade. No UN. All sounds GREAT to me! I am 100% for the USA becoming an isolationist nation. Not giving any technology to the rest of the world. Let them figure it out themselves. All we get is grief from the rest of the world. Don't fight the world's wars. Don't defend Europe or any other country. If dictators take over some country then just let'um. Kick all illegal persons out and all anti american foreigners out of the U.S. If they are against our ways and our country then let them go somewhere else. Don't put spanish and french on packages. Everything should be in english here. This is an english speaking country. If someone wants to live here LEARN english. How is that? Sounds great doesn't it.
Squaddies have to obey orders and do as they are told. Squaddies are not diplomats or statesmen.Pitscum said:ehh? i took the queen's shilling many years ago but i object to usa's current foreign policy (as do some serving mates i still know). why do you americanos always jump on the leftist tag to explain someones total and utter dissapproval at your glorious leaders f++k up of your country's image in a whole region of the world???? jeez christ. grow up.
Yes it would be nice. Todo completo? Sounds good to me! Go for it! You are foregetting one thing. It takes the other countries to sign the free trade agreements..etc so THEY are just as much a part of it as the U.S. You see Mexico willing signed. Central America willing. So if a country doesn't like it DON'T sign these deals! Simple! No signature NO free trade agreement. So, when you guys gripe, gripe at your OWN governments. Your government could have said NO to the summit today. Why didn't they? Why don't the Argentine people carry signs against their OWN beloved presidente for allowing the summit? But no you carry signs against Bush? Blame the Americans again for the economic problems of Aregentina. Instead of shouldering responsibility and saying WE are responsible for our own economic problems the americanos become your scape goat. It's the same old latin American syndrome. "No es culpa mia". I will tell you what L.A. needs to do so their people will prosper. PAY THEM more! But every business man I have talked in Latin America is against that concept. But it has worked for America! That is why we haven't had revolutions like Latin America. If we paid Americans 2.00 to 4.00 day we WOULD have a revolution on our hands too.commanderco said:Wouldnt be nice if you could get what you want.
I fear that your Corp/Gov has out grown its skin and sadly you are being dragged along for the ride.
There are countries that have a surplus of this and they trade it for a shortfall of that.
Lat Am seems to be todo completo ... all we need to do is come to terms with ourselves.
Does that sound familiar!!

Change the word "revolution" to "civil war "and bless my soul, what do we have, and prior to the invention of the cia I might add.
If we paid Americans 2.00 to 4.00 day we WOULD have a revolution on our hands too.
Give yourself a chance Tape, people are already working on this problem in the US as we speak.
I see Delta are being offered a 20% cut to add to last years 32% cut and the nice folks over at Delphi have been offered a 60% haircut. Autoworkers may not need to turn up for work next year
as GM & Ford switch to China under a different Corp structure.
LA is gearing up for an influx of US citizens fleeing poverty. Let us take your poor, your tired, your old. ......oops I think that this one has been done before.
I might add that our amigos in New Zealand are still bellyaching about asian immagration, high taxes, socialist gov. The aussies have come up with a "fortress Aust" plan using birdflu as an excuse and here in beautiful Arg, it is the start of another glorious day, the CME is being kind to me now I have finally figured out what is required of me. The peso is steady at 3:1
Which means my CME fund multiples by 3 when I spend. I am busy making plans for a great break at Xmas with family arriving from aust and then back up to Panamá, Cuba, Costa Rica for even more fun, armed to the teeth with my new new laptop.
I dont read the local papers, nor watch the local news as I imagine that it is just as boring and depressing as anyone elses, yours included.
However, mi amigo told me this story in the gym yesterday .... you will love this one.
The locals here were protesting about the fact that the commutor trains in BA never run on time. In the middle of the protest they set fire to two trains and destroyed them completely.
Well they fixed that problem for those two trains .... they will never run late again.

Just got back from a few tough days soaking up the Sun. It is tough, but someone has to do it.
I see that you are entering into the spirit of our postings. Live is for living because we are all a long time dead.
Incidentally, I whispered your thoughtful words into my Wife´s ear and she told me to p*ss off and bring her a cup of coffee. To be fair to everyone, first thing in the morning is not necessarily her best time of day so dont take that as just anti sentiment.
Just a thought. You guys are deep into these silly reality games, in fact you invented them after you reluctantly weaned yourselves off "friends" How about pitting a Mexico City cab driver against other cabbies. I am willing to bet a BA cabbie will make the final cut.
Please take good care of the CME for me, es el más importante.
See what you make of this. It has always bothered me since the day it happened.

Incidentally, what part of the US is home to you.

There is a joke about cabbies:
A mexican cad driver died and went to the pearly gates. A minister also dies and went there too. They are waiting in line to enter. The cab drivers gets to Saint Peter first. Saint Peter hands the cab driver a beautiful robe and a golden crown and ushers him in. The minister who is next in line is thinking "if a cab driver gets this kinda of royal treatment I imagine i will get better treatment because I am a minister". As he steps up Saint Peter gives him a simple plain rob with no golden crown, The minister protest and wants to know why the mexican cab driver got better treatment than he did and he is a minister. Saint Peter responds: "while you were preaching folks were sleeping. While he was driving folks were praying!"
Yes I imagine BA cabbie will make the final cut.
Please don't tell me you believe the conspiracy theories.

Yes, many others died. And from many nations. In no way would I mean to make light of the ultimate sacrifices made by anyone, regardless of nation. However, IF the US wouldn't have entered it is unlikely it would have turned out like it did. And Hitler would have dominated Europe. And you might have zeros flying in your back yard. Call it a favor or whatever you want. Maybe the Japs did Europe a favor by bombing us. Maybe that is who did the favors! You have a great day!zigglewigler said:Trust a Yank to know so little about history.
If it wasn't for Russia, in fact, Hitler would be in charge, the Russians destroyed more of the Nazi regime than the rest of the allies combined. It cost them 20 million lives. The US certainly guaranteed that the Russians didn't come too far West.
You were a vital, though very reluctant part of Europe's liberation. France like the rest of the continent didn't have water to hide behind. They lost 100,000 men in 10 days of fighting in the Battle for France, before the British decided to retreat behind the Channel. For comparison America lost 75,000 in 12 or so years of Vietnam. People in Europe did their best, while America watched.
Had the Japanese not attacked you at Pearl Harbour, the USA would of continued to believe that the war was not relevant. You joined the war to save your own hide. Though it took Churchill's sacrifice of the boys at Pearl Harbour to force your hand. British Intelligence picked up Japanese code four days before the attack, Churchill kept it quiet, knowing the US still hadn't grasped the concept of a global war, and just how involved she was in its' escalation by not participating.
But this has always been American's attitude, that somehow they're doing us a favour, that they could actually somehow ignore it all. The US tried that in WW1, Wall Street grew thirty fold during the war years, profiting by financing British, French and German companies in the war effort. Only when US war loans were threatened by a possible German victory, did the Americans finally get off the fence.
You would be against defending France and Britain now because of our criticism? People in Europe are immensely grateful to all those that sacrificed, of all nations, they would've perhaps preferred a more timely, less self serving response. Earlier US participation in the inevitable conflict would have saved lives. That is at the route of current US criticism. Whatever the arguments for today's foreign campaigns, self interest is at its core.
I get a little tired of Yanks and their lessons on Wars. Maybe America's attitude is different because of the comparatively smaller death toll, and certainly non of it on home soil. Europe had 60 million dead on its lands, a horror the most American's can't imagine, even those that could even tell you where and when the Wars took place.
And today we remember all the millions that were sacrificed in the most pointless of conflicts.
so the U.S. had nothing to do with the war being won? It was won because the Japs and Hitler messed up?zigglewigler said:No question.
Japan didn't need to attack the US, the Japanese fleet commander at the time said Japan had at that instant brought about its own downfall.
And Germany had no need to attack Russia, as Hitler had signed a non aggression pact with Stalin.
Fortunately, Hitler was a twit, overruled his High Command and sent the his troops to attack Russia, instead of finishing off Britain. The RAF allies in the Battle of Britain were on the back foot, one more wave from the Luftwaffe and mainland Britain would have been open to an easier cross channel invasion by the Nazis, had they chosen to do so.
So we are I suppose all grateful that the Axis messed it up! Phew!!
