a very good point, its not as if we are a complex demographic. marketing agencies wld pay good money to have access to some decent analysis on members post content, and to then be allowed to broker ad space here. or t2w cld do this themselves.
Would that work, would it bring in similar income to the trading related stuff? If it did it would solve a lot of problems, its rather like when tobacco advertising was banned in F1, it took a while but they eventually moved to 'soft' sponsors like computer companies, airlines, drinks companies, phone companies etc.

On top of the male related stuff there's probably a need for fraud lawyers, debt guidance and The Samaritans on T2W if recent events are anything to go by.

why not just do adverts for booze and fhm and other male things instead of "trading" (lol) related stuff? I'd be more interested in a marks and spencer tv offer, some nice work shirts on discount or £10 off a £100 spend at tesco offer than half of the sh*t that I saw before I got me adblock plus on the go. No one can complain then. Strange how a bunch of people who have been running a trading website have no idea how to hedge their bets through a bit of diversification lol.
great post scose. T2win have been naive in that area, there are so many more ways of revenue that would mean they would not become reliant on all trading issues and the likes. If more money was earnt elsewhere there would never be a need for 1/2 the stuff we have on here and there would be no pressure on them to take money from the dark side in order to survive.

The vendor posts may well be easy to spot but we do not have the resource to proactively go out and find them and as such it will work best with help from the membership in my view. Steve will decide how best this can be done and then we can get on and start doing it.

I am a moderator on another forum, and we have implemented some measures to cut down on 'bots, which this site may or may not employ:

1) Using Captcha.

2) Including a simple question in the registration process to determine whether the user is human.

For ex: "What is the main activity this forum focuses on?" Answer: "Trading"

This one has worked surprisingly well.

3) Forum software that automatically moderates 'bot posts. It lets some slip through, though. I think this one is a vBulletin feature, so not sure what software this forum runs on.

4) Include a timer between posts (say 30s) to prevent those mega-spam 'bots that act like DDoS attacks in the event one would happen.

------

Anything that the above doesn't catch, we need to get to manually. But since much of the work is already done by the above, we only get a couple 'bots here and there every so often.

And there you get to the nub of things. How many clicks is this activity generating though? After all, there aren't that many active members, and most active members already know the score.
oh dear oh dear, more spamming on the 'should vendors be allowed' thread. They just don't get it, traders are not interested in the number of clicks an advert makes. It's all about 1000's of posts of advertising and soliciting by pushing agendas.

Traders both beginner, intermediate and expert/pro just want to talk/debate about trading, that's all we want, without that there is no T2W.

I think it is clear to the majority what is happening here and hopefully the new CEO will clear this up. Don't know if it's too late though, still I remain cautiously optimistic.

Can a flag be added so that we can highlight vendors to you? Something like the 'report post' button but specifically for a 'vendor alert'?

or modify the existing report post feature and add a reason why the post is being reported, e.g child porn, bad language, spam, un-badged vendor, excessive lulz etc

The problem is someone still has to action them. I've pretty much stopped reporting posts as no one ever does anything anyway, and I know many others have made the same comment. Encouraging even more reports is going to add to the problem, and there's not enough resources to deal with the situation.

The other issue is that stuff that members want to complain about is generally not in the financial interests of the site. Soliciting reports is the digital equivalent of having a works suggestion box located directly over the shredder.

CD - Do you honestly think DT's "spamming" over last 4000 posts is part of a major marketing campaign to subtlety promote his products ?

The reality is that the number of successful traders that are on T2W are marginal and of those traders the number that might get some value in what his products offer is even less, his target market is soo miniscule it would be the biggest waste of "marketing" time ever.

ET has far larger mix of successful traders where he could probably get a much better return, although not sure if DT posts there.

Either way the alleged "pushing" of such bespoke order flow software to a bunch of spreadbetters / forex experts / 5min chartist's is not accurate and you know it.

yes I think it is a large part of his marketing campaign albeit he claims it is unsuccessful - it probably is unsuccessful. maybe that's to do with the product though.

yes ET does have a larger mix of successful traders. they would not tolerate such blatant advertising/soliciting. (is there a correlation??). pro traders would not be interested in his product as they dont tend to use retail trading platforms to execute through.

on the contrary these people are his target market.

exactly. Generally speaking, the type of person who typically stumbles over t2w looking for tarding advice believes that such tools can provide an edge.

DT has his niche demographic, and t2w is a target rich environment. Admittedly, its not the only forum, but it is one of the few who would tolerate this type of thing, (worse still they actually ENCOURAGE it !)

DT isn't the worst offender, but he's playing the same league.
