interesting nightmare

Given that at work all day long I go through people's accounts, looking for suspicious activity (AML and similar), and given that at home I study the nazis, my nightmare was as follows: I dreamed I had to go through an account with 2 co-holders: the SA and the SS.

It was hard work.

It's now 3.30 AM, I am starting the systems, and then I'll try to go back to sleep as soon as possible. I turned off both alarms, so I'll definitely go late.

Corn finally seems to be taking off:

Deutschland erwache aus deinem bösen Traum...

That's right, I had a bösen Traum.

...

Now that I think of it, I found an excellent way of escaping reality. In fact, I'd rather live among the nazis of 80 years ago, in my imaginary world, than live among the Roman taxi drivers of today. Still, if I had been in Germany in 1933, I would decide to move to Australia in the next 24 hours, or better yet, Pitcairn island.

Back from work. I am feeling good. My vegan diet is good in that I never get sick, and I think it's due to it. Last night I had some fever, but today it's gone, and it only happens once a year. This morning I drank two glasses of squeezed oranges, just in case I needed any more good nutrients.

Then I went to work, one hour late, as expected. Everything is fine and under control.

Although I am sorry that I was forced out of my profitable NG and CL positions, due to lack of margin from the other positions, especially Gold, Silver and Corn. But this is part of the game and I cannot blame myself for not expecting gold silver and corn to go so low.

Now they seem to be recovering and I am doing much better than 2 days ago. I could reopen both CL and NG, but I won't because now they are too high.

Now I'll watch some good nazi documentary, the one on collaborators:

Just as it is for the markets, in this documentary I will probably see the worst of crowd dynamics at work. Just as the Jews were mistreated when they were a small minority and the trend was against them, and no one dared to defend them, the same is going to happen now to the collaborators once the trend has changed and the nazis have been defeated. Some people will be really mean to them, other people will watch and cheer, other people would like to stop the violence but won't be able to do it, because they'd be lynched as well, up against an overwhelming majority. The world instead could use a lot more anti-conformists like me. But unfortunately this is not the case, and the best way is to simply stay away from crowds at all times.

I for one would like to defend the nazi collaborators, and even Hitler (who survived and fled, at any rate), but since I'd be up against people who'd kill me if I did it, I wouldn't even try, and would leave. But certainly I never side with the crowd against a minority, even if it happens to be a minority of murderers. And of course I am against the death penalty.

...

The first episode on Chaim Rumkowski was excellent:

Now i'll watch episode 2, on Pierre Laval:

1990 report on the neo-nazis:

Unfortunately I am still not up to understanding things without looking up in the dictionary endlessly. I'll get there. I know it. I know it from learning English. It's going to take me about 3 more months.

WARNING: never trade distant contracts on CL

Memo to myself. I just realized what took away all my profit on CL (oil):

a_year_away.png

Above: how much price moved on my contract, a year away

Below: how much price moved on the closest month contract:

closest_month.png

Same period, same underlying asset. Yeah, see it to believe it. It's the first time I experienced something as lame as this.

I lost 4000 dollars of profit without even realizing it. I had noticed the difference in price, that my contract was lower than the other CL, so I said to myself "so much the better". I didn't realize that this might be an indicator of the fact that they could be moving differently. When the closest contract rose 5 points, my contract only rose... less than 2 points. It was awful. I can't believe they can rip you off this way. There was no way for me to forecast this rip-off.

...

Damn, screw this. Do you know what I just did? I figured that sooner or later December 2014 contract will have to catch up, so I bought it back, at about the same price I sold several days ago, since it hasn't risen almost at all, despite the fact that December 2013 has risen by 5 points as I said. So, dude, sooner or later the other contract is going to have to catch up, and, since it didn't rise, it won't fall either in case the closest month contract loses 5 points again. So what the hell, I bought and now I'll sleep peacefully.

Now I am only missing Natural Gas and I will be back with all my original positions of 10 days ago, when I was hit so badly that I had to close out natural gas and oil.

the fascinating world of newsreels

This was the equivalent of the news today. A whole world I am just starting to discover, thanks to studying German:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_newsreels_by_country

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wochenschau

I might be able to get the specific countries' perspectives on the same event, such as France vs. Italy on Ethiopia:

Or France vs Germany on their ongoing war:

Unfortunately I could not find the same exact date, because I am still not acquainted with these searches, but I'll get there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_World_War_II_(1940)#May_1940

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_France#Central_front
The Panzerkorps now slowed their advance considerably and put themselves in a very vulnerable position. They were stretched out, exhausted, low on fuel, and many tanks had broken down. There was now a dangerous gap between them and the infantry. A determined attack by a fresh and large enough mechanised force might have cut the Panzers off and wiped them out.[citation needed]

The French High Command, already contemplatively ponderous and sluggish via its firm espousing of the broad strategy of "methodological warfare", however, was reeling from the shock of the sudden offensive and was now stung by a sense of defeatism. On the morning of 15 May, French Prime Minister Paul Reynaud telephoned the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill and said "We have been defeated. We are beaten; we have lost the battle." Churchill, attempting to offer some comfort to Reynaud, reminded the Prime Minister of all the times the Germans had broken through the Allied lines in World War I only to be stopped. Reynaud was, however, inconsolable.[152]

Churchill flew to Paris on 16 May. He immediately recognised the gravity of the situation when he observed that the French government was already burning its archives and was preparing for an evacuation of the capital. In a sombre meeting with the French commanders, Churchill asked General Gamelin, "Où est la masse de manoeuvre?" ["Where is the strategic reserve?"] that had saved Paris in the First World War. "Aucune" ["There is none"] Gamelin replied. After the war, Gamelin claimed his response was "There is no longer any."[153] Churchill described hearing this later as the single most shocking moment in his life. Churchill asked Gamelin where and when the general proposed to launch a counterattack against the flanks of the German bulge. Gamelin simply replied "inferiority of numbers, inferiority of equipment, inferiority of methods".[154]

The French were rich, were living well, and they weren't ready to face the Germans. It was like the barbarian invasions all over again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migration_Period
The Migration Period, also known as the period of the Barbarian invasions or of the Völkerwanderung[1] ("migration of peoples" in German), was a period of intensified human migration in Europe from about 400 to 800 AD.[2][3] Historians consider it to be the transition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages.[citation needed] This period was marked by profound changes both within the Roman Empire and beyond its "barbarian frontier". The migrants who came first were Germanic tribes such as the Goths, Vandals, Angles, Saxons, Lombards, Suebi, Frisii and Franks; they were later pushed westwards by the Huns, Avars, Slavs, Bulgars and Alans.[4] Later migrations (such as the Arab conquest and Viking, Norman, Magyar, Moorish, Turkic, and Mongol invasions) also had significant effects (especially in North Africa, the Iberian peninsula, Anatolia and Central and Eastern Europe); however, they are outside the scope of the Migration Period.

Fascinating one, on their educational system (since in late November 1939 there were no battles to show):

At minute 1:51 you can hear their song "Es Zittern Die Morschen Knochen", one of the songs I studied. Here is the full song:

Ok, I am all set to begin.

The markets are fine.

I have these web sites open:

And then I'll watch these weekly newsreels, one by one:

This is even earlier, absolutely fascinating document:

Oops, did I just spot something odd right at the start?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolph_Zukor
Adolph Zukor (January 7, 1873 – June 10, 1976)[1] was a Hungarian film mogul and founder of Paramount Pictures. Zukor was born to a Jewish family in Ricse, Hungary...
Yep, I am glad they didn't make a big deal out of it, or I might have been unable to hear the sound now.

And this is the last one, March 22nd, 1945, it is moving:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_World_War_II_(1945)#March_1945

630px-1945-03-15GerWW2BattlefrontAtlas.jpg

Yep, this was the situation around them when they were filming it.

This is a gold mine and I am an historian. Or "a historian", whichever you prefer. I think that studying German brought out the historian in me, or maybe the historian in me brought out the desire to learn German, to finally figure out the most discussed period of recent history, that of nazism.

We ought to know more, understand more... here's what I am talking about:
http://www.google.com/trends/explor...14, /m/0gzh, /m/0177g&date=1/2004 120m&cmpt=q

chart.jpg

You see, Hitler beats, worldwide, Mussolini, JFK, Lincoln, in searches on google and no one, in the long term (other than on specific dates, like JFK) can compete with Hitler. We must therefore get more information on him other than the usual one-sided american-jewish-influenced documentary, which uses the word "evil" repeatedly. I am not saying I am against jews or americans, but of course they're going to be anything but impartial on hitler, and so we need opinions from others, most importantly the Germans of then. Actually it would be in their interest (of the jews) to bring to light the fact that the holocaust wasn't really about hitler alone, but about the germans, and about society in general, regardless of the nation. The pogroms coexisted. The slaughtering of other minorities has lasted until today. Think of Stalin, Mao, Bush.

It's not enough to keep saying and hearing what we've been hearing for decades that "hitler was crazy". Hitler was not crazy at all. It was a way of thinking that he shared not just with a few other madmen but with an entire country. And as I said, you can't blame it on the Germans either: think about how slavery went on in the US until this century, and the lynchings. You see, even in other countries there had been pogroms and jewish persecutions, and there are minorities being persecuted even today. We have to understand society today and yesterday. We can't think that he was just one bad person, and now that he's dead the problem is solved, and no one else is involved. Hitler was so successful because his ideas were shared, so strongly, by so many people. And similar ideas are spread today as well, maybe not against jews but against other minorities. This is the old story of the witch-hunts, which is another thing we have to ask ourselves: how could witch-hunts be possible?

So let us not dismiss hitler as a madman. Let us instead open our eyes and realize that people, crowd dynamics and conformism is a dangerous thing, and always has been. It's not about the jews, it's not about hitler... it's about conformism.

Another interesting thing I want to find out is this: why did hitler think he could win? What was he saying to his soldiers in his speeches? What lead him to attack the soviet union? Again, we can't just say that he was crazy.

Once I'll be done watching all the newsreels, and post-ww2 documentaries, too, then I'll have an answer. About hitler, about germans of now and then, and about humans.

Eugen Hadamovsky

I was on this page, seeing the picture number 21:
http://www.elektronikpraxis.vogel.de/index.cfm?pid=7525&pk=422972&fk=646788&op=1&type=article#20

And I stumbled across this nazi leader, Eugen Hadamovsky, head of Nazi radio, and I noticed a very interesting thing, on wikipedia.

He has entries in a few languages, so look at his entry in English:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugen_Hadamovsky

english.jpg

And in German:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugen_Hadamovsky

german.jpg

And now in Russian:
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Хадамовски,_Ойген

russian.jpg

He was a nazi leader, german. Yet his entry in russian is 5 times as long as in german. The russian version is so detailed that it even lists the nazi and military badges and decorations. Why?

The only reason I can think of is that... first of all, who edits these entries? Usually, or at least quite often, it is people close to to the person: either historians or family members. Now, being from the side of germany that came to be under the russians, the DDR, maybe one of his descendants, maybe his grandson grew up to be a russian or to speak russian, and he edited the entry. The explanation of why his german entry is so short could be the usual reason, that the importance of nazi history is usually underplayed in Germany. It seems as though it's not ok to be curious about nazi history in germany, but it's ok to be curious about it everywhere else in the world.

So maybe the question is not why his russian entry is so long, but rather why the english and german entries are so short.

Having worked on wikipedia entries I know a little bit how it works. I think the most likely explanation is that there is this person, most likely a relative of Hadamovsky, who most likely speaks both german and russian, most likely from the former DDR, most likely his grandson (I read his russian entry and found this: "He was married to Hilda Frejtag (3 sons, 1 daughter)."), and he wanted to edit it in both russian and german... but whereas no one bothered him with the russian entry, the german editors kept him from making the german entry too long, on the grounds that the subject was a nazi leader.

Investigating further, I found the name of the russian entry biggest contributor and it's this guy:
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Участник:Ditrix86

Yep, Ditrix86.

Now, he has a badge that translates to: "the user is interested in the history of the third reich".

Now all we have to find out is his other entries. If he edited entries on other nazi leaders, then Ditrix86 is clearly not a relative. Otherwise he is.

Verdict: not a relative. I used google translate for this russian page:
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Обсуждение_участника:Ditrix86

He edited other pages on nazi leaders as well, so he's not a relative.

The wikipedia editors themselves are a bunch of fascists, ruling over their domain with the power of censure. I've had experiences with them on an article I wrote and they must be treated with kid gloves or they **** on you.

I just realised that you have mentioned Ernie Chan in your tag line. I went to see him at a trader meet-up in London recently where he was promoting his latest book. He is very good.

Yes, he's not god, but I believe his book on automated trading is simple and concise and useful. The most useful I found so far. But I had already figured everything out by myself (yet, it took me several years, so he might give you a shortcut).

Regarding wikipedia entries, I know your experience. But it can get even worse. I didn't try, but by reading the entries on 911, JFK, and other conspiracy theories, most of which I believe, I came to the conclusion that, as far as present political events (and recent, such as JFK), wikipedia is totally controlled by the CIA, or similar US agency.

So enjoy your history older than 100 years, because that's all the truth you're going to get from wikipedia.

From:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_John_F._Kennedy

Snap1.jpg

Bottom line: Lee Harvey Oswald did it, and the criticism they allow is on whether he acted alone or not. The problem is that he didn't even shoot at all. Same story for 911. It's so pathetic to live in a situation close to that of Nazi Germany today, and yet we don't even realize it. So we blame the Germans for being blind back with Hitler, and we're not realizing that we're just as blind today, with 911 and similar events.

There is a difference. Today you can say all these things, and you'll be regarded as crazy. And if you're successful in saying these truths, such as those on 911, you might get yourself killed, or suicided. But it isn't as likely nor as immediate as disagreeing with the nazis back in the 1930s. So yes, there is more freedom. The media however is just as manipulated, yet it's more subtle and people don't realize it.

They leave room for some fake opposition, such as:
1) lee harvey oswald did it, but there's some debate on whether he acted alone... (whereas the real debate is quite different)
2) there's a big scandal if some prisoners get tortured in Iraq, but no discussion on whether the US government engineered 911

It is totally hilarious if it weren't the equivalent of nazism. This is just as bad, but since they're in power, no one can say it and no one is allowed to see it.

The thing that makes conspiracy theories conspiracy theories is that there is actually is no way of proving it. You think the media won't grab a story if they can make it stand up in court? There was nothing Nixon for example could do once the media knew they had him. With most conspiracy theories, there isn't a smoking gun. It's true that there isn't the opposing smoking gun to kill off the theory, but they don't need to do that.

I prefer to stick to the rational and irrefutable arguments of people like Noam Chomsky or for instance there was an interesting article on Mandela yesterday:

http://thinkprogress.org/home/2013/12/06/3030781/nelson-mandela-believed-people-wont-talk/

2. Mandela called freedom from poverty a “fundamental human right.”

I'm not sure how he can considers freedom from poverty a "human right". You cannot consider anything a "right" if it requires someone else having to provide it. Therefore "freedom from poverty" and "slavery" become a contradiction.

I am sorry to have just ascertained that you're still in the matrix.

The Matrix is a system, Neo, and that system is our enemy. When you are inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters, the very minds we are trying to save. Until we do, these people are part of that system and that makes them our enemies. You have to understand that most of these people are not ready to be unplugged and many are so hopelessly dependent on the system, they will fight to protect it.

2. Mandela called freedom from poverty a “fundamental human right.”

I'm not sure how he can considers freedom from poverty a "human right". You cannot consider anything a "right" if it requires someone else having to provide it. Therefore "freedom from poverty" and "slavery" become a contradiction.

Yeah, good logical reasoning. But according to your logical reasoning, blind people should also be left to die, right? Without help from someone, and in case they're alone, without help from the government, they would most likely die. So what politicians like Mandela really mean is that, whatever the case, everyone who needs it should be.. not simply "allowed" but also "helped" to live. By the community.

In other words, yes, the logical conclusion is that if you blind person have the "right" to live, then other members of the community have the "duty" to help you (which happens through their taxes).
