Sticky T2W Website Updates (New Features/Bug Fixes/Server Problems)

Do you mean like Trading Calendars? showing major news events for the coming week.
(bit like Worex Wactory :) )

edit: are smelly currencies to be found at Olforex Olfactory?

I'm planning on adding a new tools section to the site as a way to help me learn Python (you've been following my journal, right?!). Think trading calculators, that sort of thing. I'm wondering what to start with (simple?) and whether there are any online (or offline) tools/calculators that people use regularly (or infrequently) that would be good to include?
How about a Compound Interest/Amortization calculator?

Yes, that sort of thing.
Wonder if you could do a sort of ticker-tape running at bottom of page showing "NFP due in next hour" or some-such.
Helps to plan the day, or remind of red-news days, etc.
That's actually a really good idea as well, as you say it would need to be integrated in the main site, so some sort of forum plug-in. I'll give it some thought.

We now display user activity on the forums and threads. So you can see, at any moment, who's currently viewing a forum and thread, as per the screenshots below:

On the forum list

I've updated user titles (the one under your username in your post eg. Active member) to better reflect your activity on the site (before it was simply, Junior, (Regular) and Senior Member). It's based on post count and includes the following levels:
  • Newbie
  • Junior member
  • Member
  • Active member
  • Well-known member
  • Established member
  • Experienced member
  • Senior member
  • Veteran member
  • Legendary member
I'm not at liberty to reveal the numbers, but I can say there are 39 members who have achieved Legendary status.

I've cleaned up the New to Trading forum, when we moved to the new forum software, the permission changed and members were able to post new threads there when they shouldn't have. So I've restricted the forum again and now all the FAQs are in plain sight. I'll be doing more cleaning up across the forums, and particularly the sticky threads in the coming weeks.

Nice to see T2W mentioned in the an article on the TradingLife website of the best Trading Forums in 2019. They've got a 3 part series, ordered by oldest to newest forums. In case you're wondering we came in second, established in 2001, only beaten by our friends over at Elite Trader, established four years earlier. Time flies...

I've fixed some issues with the search functionality and added some weighting on new posts, overall it should mean you get a better experience, it should at least be as good as the old site, and in actual fact a lot better.

Also if you click the little down arrow on the left, under the username/title, you'll now see a member's country flag, this only applies to members who have visited the site since yesterday, so over time it will get more and more populated. This also shows on the members list and a member's profile page.

One final fix, before if you clicked a username of the poster, which shows the mini-profile, clicking on the number of messages they've posted would result in a broken search page, it now lists all the posts of that member.

Avatars added to last poster, on the forum list and thread list views... for example:

Suggested threads are now listed at the bottom of every threads, based on similarity of content. We had this on the old site, so regular members should already be familiar with it.

As you've probably noticed old urls pointing to threads and forums on the old T2W website, have been redirecting fine to the new site. However there were some remaining issues with urls to the old site, not redirecting properly to the new.

With today's update, I'm pleased to say that as far as I can tell, ALL links including all attachment links, as well as very old thread links (probably pre-2010) are working \o/

As an example here are some links that wouldn't work before today:

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/showthread.php?t=211928
http://www.trade2win.com/boards/attachment.php?attachmentid=252328

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/trading-journals/140032-my-journal-3-post2490560.html

If you spot any remaining issue do let me know, otherwise I'll be keeping an eye on our log files in case there's anything I've missed.

< You probably spotted, "Messages" and "Likes" counts added to the sidebar in thread views. I think this makes it a little bit easier for new members to gauge a posters seniority on the site.

hi Sharky,

I seem to be getting "Approvals" requests at top of my page.
It seems to think I have to approve some upcoming events.
I have approved them, as I dont want to prevent them appearing on T2W for others.
Ideally, I prefer not to have them. Thanks.
(I still seem to be a moderator, although I havent been given any actions to be involved in, so far!)

Thanks for reporting this @trendie, I just checked and it seems that all registered members were set up with the ability to moderate new events posted. That explains why we've got a bunch of new events live on the Calendar (some good, some not so much - will tidy up later today). So had nothing to do with your moderation status on the Trading Delta Cycles forum (I assume that's still valid).

The Articles section is getting an upgrade, when we moved over to the new site, we lost all the categorisation. That's being re-implemented, and we'll be adding tagging as well to make it easy to sift through.
