Private Journals

With the proliferation of private journals recently, t2w is quickly becoming a one-sided unhelpful non-trading forum. New traders become enamored with such journals that contain only 1 sided points of view and no member checks and balances.

If journals are private then ONLY the op should be able to post and not his/her friends, otherwise it's not a journal, it's a trading thread where only 1 side can be heard.




This is just my opinion and may differ from others.

Agreed , never heard of a journal for a group of traders , so how does it exactly work , are they trading from the same account ?

Agreed. Traders who only dialogue with those who agree with them won't get the benefit of contrary points of view, potential enhancements, alternative suggestions, technical challenges etc. They only delay their improvement from the level they've reached: they're like chess players who only play the opponents they know they can beat because they've beaten them before. Eventually, they end up, ahem, playing with themselves.

Thanks for starting the thread which, hopefully, will entice others to contribute.

I take your point, and it's interesting that given the long and often tortuous history of the site and the ingenious ways that (past) members have found to abuse it - that this issue hasn't surfaced in the past. Be that as it may, I assume that your thread is prompted by FoMo's journal and subsequent journals by his disciples.

Under the current permissions made available to each and every member (which, incidentally, have been in place for yonks), none of them has done anything wrong. By which I mean they are perfectly entitled to act as they have. Obviously, the permissions can be changed - if it's in the interest of the membership to do so. The options - as I see them - are threefold:

1. Do nothing, i.e. leave everything as it is.
2. Scrap the moderation permissions allowed for threads started in the Journals forum. (In other words, it's the same as starting any other thread in any other forum.)
3. Amend the moderation permissions allowed for threads started in the Journals forum.

Hopefully, subsequent contributors will make clear which of the three options they favour. Those of you reading this who want to post in favour of the third one - please state as clearly and as concisely as possible what amendments you'd like to see made.

being as independent as I can, having only just joined. I'd opt for 2
My reasons are quite simple, without trying to cause any friction between the two obvious parties involved the journal (which I've tried to join but can't because of firendship requests means i can't take place even if I wanted) but also because even if it was open to everyone, lately all the talk is of the other parody thread anyway. it seems to me like a love hate relationship, they both need and feed off each other
and lastly, the journal thread is full of off topic remarks anyway and really have yet to see where the "class" actually is.
I thought it was going to be a potential teaching of a methodology without interruption instead its being interrupted by their own members
so what difference would it really make?

anyway, that's just my opinion. I'm able to scroll through, I have that choice, without having to read every post and have to visit the other to see what somebody else maybe saying about me..love hate

I don't mind if it's left how it is. I'm fairly indifferent.
Obviously, if everyone who started a journal made it so only them and their friends can post in it, I think the site would badly suffer. (Everyone may as well just start their own skype group if that were the case)
However, as it is, it's mainly only members who are playing the 'smoke and mirrors' game who don't want to have to answer certain questions and are basically just attempting to promote and advertise a certain method through a journal for various reasons. At least it's just the minority....for now

Perhaps the best way is to canvas the opinions of the wider community. To date, opinions seem to have been limited to some old school opinionated members and their multinix, (as well, of course, the Mods ( Who I assume have only one identity and do not use Multinix) who have has their time eaten away by this issue already), who keep engaging in playground style bullying. Aren't there supposed to be over 320,000 members of T2W? Its a good idea that the whole community should decide what should best the best format for the future, if the constitution allows that.

As a bystander with no prejudice for either side. Don't you think it's an individuals right to have a private area to reflect on their trading. It's not like the entire forum is locked down so I really don't see the point in all this other than to unlock those threads so the arguments and bashing can resume.
Like everything in society there are people you get along with, people you avoid, people you have to accept due to circumstances, and people you want to be around. How is this forum any different?
Why don't you just be frank and say what you really mean and by that I mean you want to contribute to threads which home individuals you don't like. One can only question your intentions as it is clear they won't be of a positive nature.

I am not trying to be offensive to anyone but I am rather bored and this continuous effort to remove individuals from the forum. Anyone could assume therefore that this forum is merely a privileged boys club that has a hidden membership rulset.

My vote is to leave it as is and let people be. You don't have to communicate with anyone you don't like but just because you don't like or respect them, doesn't give you a right to be judge jury and executioner.

I was merely commenting from a standpoint of not being involved in any of it, and, commenting inline with the theme of the thread. its obvious and doesn't require psychological surgery to see whats going on. If you felt like my opinion here was offensive then maybe you feel guilty and insulted as it is perhaps a direct reflection on your involvement! i didn't mention any names and i don't really care to as i have better things to do with my life than nitpick at people. My humblest apologies to anyone if they feel offended in any way. i shall whip my naked back with an olive branch tonight for hurting anyone's' feelings.

The mods already banned members from both sides - for this and other things - ... one can express his opinion within site guidelines no need to call others : dissers , haters .. etc .

to be fair the mods have done half a job. The fact that there is a thread,albeit funny, which has almost the same name as another thread, and who's whole intent is to ridicule the other thread and its members i find astonishing. Not only that but this very thread we are posting on is seemingly geared towards removing constraints on the other thread so the nagging and name calling can continue. If i am incorrect in assuming this then i stand down. Just to be clear i have no bias towards any side i am however tired of this forum being littered with nonsense and a clear division of 2 fractions. The reason people are turning to journals is because they don't want this, all they want is to trade and engage with like-minded people. So back to my point of the mods doing half a job. Just because rules are not being broken doesn't mean there is no wrongdoing. If people want to take the mickey then there should be a separate section for this that doesn't litter the rest of the forum. This site has gone from bad to worse and the days of good content are practically gone. I have already said enough regarding this matter and will refrain from proceeding further as my intentions on this forum are not geared towards this. i just felt the need to express an opinion of a bystander. enough said.

Let me rephrase this.

The Mods have also been involved policing the issue and have had their time eaten away by this issue already. It is the old school who keep engaging in playground style bullying.
