Make a progressive New UK party

I would take a big Knife to benefits ! cut cut cut - food/shelter and health covered by vouchers - free bus pass and access to the internet provided - cigarettes and alcohol not covered!
I would also knock down every council estate in London - why can someone who has never worked have a 2 bed in notting hill ? Quality subsidised central london housing for key workers (teachers nurses etc..) Long term unemployed have to move to wales.

Just one more thought about the inequality of wages and the strife of envy and bitterness it causes.
I would like to see in a moderate sized company a system of ranks max 10 of which there is a maximum difference in wages from 1 rank to the next of 10%. None of the top person hogging most of it to themselves scenario as sadly happens all too often.

Review and change - Permitted Developments laws.

Establish new green belt building rules.
Introduce new simple flat law - build on 2% of owned land. This will ensure appealing and unique properties.

I want to build a house like this, not much bloody chance of finding somewhere quiet though!!!
have even been on a Cob building course to learn how!! :cheesy:

what about money for school trips, outside/sport activities etc for kids of people on benefits?

Fully funded education - grants for the extra curriculum activities- Children of people on benefits get all the opportunities and financial support they need - This element of benefits would see additional funding.

Equality of Opportunity for all - very different from equality for all!

We don't need another new party to further fragment politics and guarantee instability and endless horse trading between coalition members.
We need an independent state for inside the M25 ! The rest of the country can be controlled by the rotten socalist Miliband/Salmon/Green coalition and we'll see how they manage without the wealth created by an independent Democratic Republic of the Inside M25 ers, to be called New Britain.
Immigrants from outside the M25 will be allowed in to work and visitors holding the old UK passports will be allowed to enter on tourist visas.
The Queen can stay but that son of hers will have the council house offered to his mum recently by Bennett, Leader of the Greens. After the Queen passes, we will have President Boris of New Britain.

Non starter! :whistling

Population of London is approx 7m and rises to 15m during the day.

I'd build a wall around London to control who gets in and who gets out. :!:

Appropriating taxes that are due. :smart:

I did say immigrants (people outside the M25) would be allowed in to work !

Prince Charles would be exiled to Scotland - serves them right for voting in the Scots Nats.
Put him in a room with Bennett the Green for the rest of eternity a la "Huit Clos".

Hopeless really for a new party to emerge in the UK. The 2 major parties are firmly entrenched whether in or out of office.

The old gang of four really looked like they might emerge in the 80s as a viable new party. 4 well known politicians of some standing but even they did not last long and were swallowed up by the Liberals.

Yep guys and dolls looks like we are stuck with them for ever and ever regardless of the scandals. There seemed to be 1 a month under Blair. A few months in the shadows and back they would come.

The pinks spend it as fast as the long suffering public can fund their schemes. Cameron wasting it on more warships. Can he swat a terrorist with an aircraft carrier ?

Just dread a Socialist tie up with the SNP. Those incompetents that try to spend the country on their potty schemes and the rebels North of the border that have tried to blow Britain apart with their nonsense.

Yikes

Lost all hope when Tony Benn fell from favour. The guy actually believed in his politics

A 10% annual wealth tax on the second million plus and exemption on the primary home up to a million and grade 1,2 & 3 listed homes.

The super rich would be pegged back a bit but remain rich.

Thumbs up for this but probably will never happen

......exemption on the primary home up to a million

The Tories have just pledged to do this on inheritance tax for the main home as part of their election manifesto.

Although this might stoke the fires of envy, it does mean somebody will try to look after the family home even on a low income. The stupid Ed Balls idea of a " mansion tax " would cause some people to follow the path of knocking down the old house and living in a barn conversion.
Britains heritage should be protected from the envious vandals of the Left. Not everyone should live in a lefty utopian council house imho.

Agree. You only need to look back at what happened with the post-WW2 Labour government with respect to the wholesale destruction of so many fine country houses by means of financial class weaponry. Just a few of those fine properties have been saved by the National Trust – so many others were lost due to the politics of class envy. I suspect that Osborne is on to a winner here and "white van man" whose equivalent many years ago would probably have voted Labour is not interested in socialism when he finds that his labours go unrewarded and end up with the State instead of his family. These are interesting times!

This is a very bad idea. Effectively double-taxation. Only income should be taxed. Taxing inheritance, savings and wealth is criminal. It is a tax on being successful and indeed truly an envy tax.

Best tax is at source. Other taxes have more the effect of distorting behaviour to the detriment of 'efficiency' if one can term it as such.

So PAYE and VAT are the best and most efficient form of taxation. The rest is simply political distortions.

Once this is agreed upon the other question that remains is whether taxation should be aggressive, flat or regressive. etc etc...

The gap between rich and poor has been steadily rising apparently. This creates social unrest and the primary cause of revolutions past.
We must be all init together or burst asunder imho.

Don't look now, but VAT is not a tax on incomes: it's a tax on spending.

"Just saying". :sneaky:

Thank you for the correction yes it is tax on expenditure.

Never the less, it is one of the most efficient taxes to collect and can be easily applied with discretion between necessities and luxery items.

It can also be avoided based on ones disposable income.

By taxing income I meant to distinguish between not taxing wealth massed ie property and inheritance tax etc., as opposed to income.

So by all means tax rental income but not the mansion tax etc.
