Intraday Trading Journal

UKOIL closes below pivot at 6224.7; should it reverse from here I'd be looking to exit above 6250 subject to signal/momentum.

I exit range breakout trades before the US session kicks off as there can often be a sudden shift in sentiment.

Indeed petszata, hence an early finish for me today.

Just having to ride out the low volatility / lack of downside at the moment but that's trading, doesn't always go the way one would like it to.

Summary:
0820 Short UKOIL 6241 -21
0849 Short XAUUSD 1278.54 +10.1
0915 Short DE30 11143.7 -4.7

Day total -15.6
Week total -15.6
Journal total -149.3

1527 Short XAUUSD 1279.67

Exit -30.8 at 1649 as the market regains 12800 / P / 1282.5.

Common sense thing might have been to leave that one alone late in the day but not trading a valid setup within my allotted trading hours would have been a mistake as far as I'm concerned.

Just had a quick analysis of my trade records and have noted something I wasn't previously aware of, that XAUUSD is by some distance my least profitable market. Since the most recent tweak to my rules in Mid-November, it has accounted for just 0.84% of my overall profits, whereas at the other end of the scale UKOIL accounts for 37.7%.

I don't think I'll be changing anything just yet but certainly interesting to note.

Distracted for a second and missed an entry on UKOIL so traded it a little late.

0925 Short UKOIL 6115.2

Dear oh dear, unfortunately unavoidably away from the markets again. With the things going on here today I probably shouldn't have even tried trading this morning. Something definitely spooked oil markets at 0949, and I missed the correct exit on this trade for around -43 at 0952. As the market has stalled at 6200 I decided to let it play out but was stopped.

A lesson learned in keeping an eye on your trades. One I learned years ago actually but I think I'd become complacent as range breakout trades rarely reverse so spectacularly.

I think I may take a day or two off as I can't give full concentration to the markets for the remainder of the week and as today clearly shows, that will cause problems! :)
