I trade the US stocks every day. I pound away on my keyboard for 8 hours straight, calming down mid-day. I have so many keys that do different things and every day there are at least 7 trades I lose money on because of a keyboard error. I have seen keyboards in random stores that looking pretty interesting for a trader, it kind of looked like a circle shape. I have also seen the bloombergs etc. but I do not need one of those. Essentially I am looking for a hardcore- streamline smoothe computer keyboard/keypad for really fast trading and less keystroke errors.

I understand the normal keyboard is probably fine, it is, it has worked for me, but if you think about it.. there is clearly a better way to trade with speed.. perhaps wider buttons spread out more in better ways... having the keys staggered differently or having the # keypad in a better location to change your tier size.

Here are examples: Dealing room and trading keypad and keyboards

Obviously i do not want the exact keypad specialists on the floors use and that sort of thing, but the way I trade (which i wont get into right now) involves me being long and short literally every other second... for example trading some of the ultra short ETFs lately has been insane and one error can cost you and being slow will really hurt you.

I want to know what you guys use or have used that you like. I do not need bloomberg keys that bring me to a data source with one key stroke or things like that. I just want a GREAT comfy keyboard where the keys respond very well and are DESIGNED with SPEED and ACCURACY in mind. I am not talking about a normal keyboard with no letters on them... or a different assortment from QWERTY... im talking about something you have SEEN or USED that just screams out... SPEED, ACCURACY, TRADING.

what other trading equipment have you guys found useful? ie. going from 3 monitors to one 33" flatscreen.. something unique like that

you guys are the best thanks for the help

I don't know which broker you trade with and whether they offer the facility, but a number of trading platforms allow you to set up hotkeys for speed. Also ones that offer facilities to enter baskets of orders that you can send individually are useful, so you can set up orders in advance and send them immediately or with changes requiring minor keystrokes.

Ultimately I think the answer lies in the software provided by your broker rather than the physical keyboard

I think you misinterpreted my post... my problem is not the kind of orders, but the physical execution of the orders/keys i already have. for example i have keys that join the bid and go high bid on diff ecns... i can program anything i want... what i want to find is the best physical keyboard to provide me with good executions based on my hands and how i trade... for example i have so many keys i have run out of space for certain things... so canceling my order is delete lets say and changing my size is the keypad and buying is QWERTY.... those are all so far apart that at times i find myself having my fingers/hands in weird positions at the most important moments because I am either going to closeout and flip my position which involves one key... or get flat if a certain thing happens which is another... all the while changing tier sizes etc...

basically, i am focusing on finding the best keyboard or keypad based on the real life physical aspects and limitations of trading. where every millisecond counts.

Thanks for starting a thread on this subject. I agree, the hardware setup is one important factor to consider in order to get the edge in trading. I use a Targus keypad to send commands to a macro program. Anyway, I am not satisfied with the feel of the keys. I would like to have a "click" or some kind of resistance while pressing the key, this is in order to feel clearly aware of the fact that the order command has been actually sent to the macro program. Any suggestion of such a keypad would be greatly appreciated, either here on this thread, or by sending me a PM.

I have been looking at xkeys.com products, and the Xkeys desktop keypad, seems to be especially versatile and programmable. I know that some traders are using this keypad. If anybody on this forum is using the Xkey keypad, I would be grateful for a PM on how it feels while trading with it. I am at times trading with the mouse, are you guys using a wireless mouse or a mouse with a cable? Any comments about the speed, any risk for the delay while using a wireless mouse?

I use two standard 19" TFT monitors to my left with charts, a 20" wide TFT monitor in front of me for surfing and SB, and a 17" TFT monitor to the right for additional charts. I also use a 14" laptop for Bloomberg news. I have tried setting up a trading environment on my full HD 46" Samsung TV, but I don't get the same feeling while trading on it as on my normal monitor setup. I find it hard on the TV to find enough space for all my charts, trading and SB sites.

I see that using 2 Monitors are more than enough for all the trading needs. But if needed an additional laptop must be used so that we are able to free the CPU:clap:
