Lets hope Kim pulls back from the brink of war. It could set off WW3. The current world leaders are nearly all guilty of ramping up the number of lethal weapons around. Including our Mrs May buying costly nuclear subs.
Why do the North Koreans allow themselves to be treated so badly. Afraid of the local Gestapo I suppose.

In those days there was a theory of " mutual destruction" which stopped wars. But with loose cannons like Kim and perhaps Trump that idea may be forgotten or ignored.

The point is, the super-powers have demonstrated they believe nuclear war would be unprofitable even if they started it at the time and point of their own choosing.

So how would they come to think it would be profitable over some minor country of no inherent value? If the Soviet regime didn't think nuclear war was justified over Cuba, how would the US or Russian or Chinese regimes come to think it would be a winning idea over North Korea?

A big news story out of Germany this morning is how the insect population has fallen by 60%.
People are just beginning to realize that the agro chemical industry is making huge profits by killing off the insects. They are needed for pollination particularly.

Something even more serious is that the shellfish and fish are being increasingly polluted by waste plastic. Plastic has been found in the plankton even in the Arctic.
The fish eat the plankton and then they are contaminated and more liable to cancer. Humans eat the fish and etc.

It would be catastrophe if the fish all died out and the oceans are turned into cesspits of filth. It is about time world leaders stopped bragging about their weaponery and did enough to tackle these problems imho

The Chinese Communist party is holding it's 5 yearly Congress.
Leaders around the world had better bone up on Chinese politics. Their system of harmony looks more attractive than Trump's chaos. In words anyway.

It is a very common trait for people to accuse others of their own failings. Even for uneducated world leaders.

For instance Kim calls Trump -a mad lunatic.
