eerrrr apart from tighter prices and far lower margins you mean? a minority (and i mean tiny minority) get put on dealer acceptance but the vast majority take advantage of the aforementioned

i have stated that in the last couple of weeks we have had platform problems but these are being dealt with.

at which point you will remain with the tight spread and margins (which our clients have benefited from for the last six years!).

how long do you need to pay more for the same product? And, yes, i do realise that some scalpers get put on dealer acceptance. But this is only for people who trade ten/twenty times a day in fast moving markets. Consistently winning 'position takers' are not disadvantaged they just get their positions added to the 'A' book for hedging.

Simon stop deceiving those here.

You do not want people to win.

Never mind the tighter prices and lower margins.

How about honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, good manners and a degree of humility ?

Your words on this thread demonstrate that you have an attitude that positively reeks of everything directly opposite to the above qualities.

You would fit in quite well at HBOS.

Ok I adjusted my stop which was hit in profit, phew!! now I can rest easy.
I have contacted capital spreads about this glitch and hopefully it will not occur again ..

Guess I should wrap this story up.
Customer support said there was indeed a problem their end, it lasted approx 4 hours till 2am. They apologised for the inconvenience, and I have the impression had I lost any money they would have re-reimbursed me however, this is speculation as I didn't lose on the trade. If I was in the habit of managing my trade using stops, I may not have noticed the problem as stop adjustment in 'Order book' was working fine.

So the moral of the story is: if it happens again, and I expect it to be a rare event, check all methods of closing the trade (from 'open positions', 'My Portfolio' and from 'Order book') .. and of course, keep an account with a second SB company funded, just in case.

CapitalSpreads on iPhone

Hi.
I have developed an application for the iPhone which i can use to login to my Capital Spreads account to keep an eye on whats going on. It does NOT allow you to trade but its better than nothing as the current flash interface does not work on iPhone.
iSpreadBet
Please have a look and let me know what you think and if some of you might use it. I have submitted to the appstore but it usually takes a few weeks before it will be available. It also supports other spread betting websites.
Cheers.

CS website is down for maintenance , maybe there will be some improvements ...

i did not actually read it but it makes a change .. they recommended us as a sell a while ago!

IG quote us and we quote IG. Nothing sinister they are in the FTSE 250 so we quote them. We cannot actually quote ourselves as we could not hedge the position. If LCG were seen to be selling their own stock (to cover a short client bet) a few eyebrows might be raised !!

upgrade is working well/second phase this evening

It's just a little snippet, but thought you might be interested. It reads:

"London Capital Group

This is not a bombed-out bank – London Capital specialises in online trading services for retail, professional and institutional customers. It has just announced a 35pc increase in pre-tax profits.

Ms Mackenzie said: "Market volatility creates more interest in London Capital's market, so demand is high. As the average bet size is only £120, they are not reliant on individual key customers. The company has a strong management team that runs a cost-effective operation." "

WARNING!!!!!!!

Yesterday I was trading the DOW and one of my trades received the 'trade rejected' window. I checked the Open Trades screen and no trade shown. Later I placed a trade and went to the Open Trades screen to find that the 'rejected' trade had been placed and was well down.

I 'phoned Capital Spreads and was told that an email confirming the 'rejected' trade had been sent. I later checked and yes it had. I was also advised that a call to a trader would have confirmed that the trade had been placed.

So do not rely on 'trade rejected' window or non appearance of trade in 'Open Trades' screen. Check your email and/or 'phone the trade desk.

Capital Spreads your comments on the above would be appreciated.

bracke

p.s. Fortunately I managed to trade my way out of the situation to make a profit but it could easily have been very expensive.

Are any current users of Capital Spreads ( other than employees of Capital Spreads ) able to confirm ( or otherwise ) that the trading platform is now working satisfactorily after the recent maintenance.

Is it now better, worse or the same as before ?

to be honest there is not much i can say here. the audit trail on your trade was absolutely straight forward. trade in and confirmed as usual. Are you sure that you got a rejected message and not a "thare may have been a problem, please check your open positions" message. It is very difficult for a computer system to send a message (which must be recorded in the audit trail) at odds to the one in the files.

can i be considered an independent assesor? Internally, even though we have huge new client numbers, the call levels to dealers and customer services is way way down which would indicate a broadly very successful upgrade. We have much more in the pipeline over the next quarter but we are attempting to upgrade whilst keeping the 'simplicity' of the current platform which appears to be very popular with clients (when they answer our surveys)

but it would be good to get some exernal client comment... even from the usual gripers.

Capital Spreads

Thank you for your prompt reply.

It was definitely 'trade rejected' window. I did check my open positions to be sure and there was no entry. It would appear that the entry was made after I checked it.

May I suggest that the 'trade rejected' window be amended to suggest action that should be taken to ensure that the trade has not been placed. e.g. 'phone trade desk or check email.
