This would be a good opportunity for all of you to display your edges..

It would be a good idea for you to join him and see if all of you together can recover the losses made in the trading competition and help rossored with suggestions as to how to change the parameters so that you can all either individually or as a collective effort put things right there at last..

You can get Bramble to help you as he has a lot of opinions as well. It will give me some relief from his obsessed and unwanted attention as well..Like that you will all end up doing something useful at last...

The croupier...does not have an edge. It is the game itself that has it. He is just an impartial operator of the game, nothng more, nothing less.

I have it on very good authority that a good croupier can place the ball within a given quadrant of a roulette wheel, and they can assess which quadrant gives the house the lowest payout based on the bets that have been placed.

That is an interesting idea to pursue just for the sake of the intellectual excercise that it yields, just out of sheer curiosity. I have no one I can ask at the moment. I have a friend who has been banned from every casino in the world but for consistenly winning at cards, not roulette, so he would not know. I have another one who managed a major casino in London, but I have lost contact with him. But I will ask around as this is very intruiging and not altogether outside the realms of possibility. I have heard however, rumours that wheels are changed if they develop certain biases. I don't know if this is a myth or is actually true.

wasnt there a case recently of east-european gamblers who used (dont ask me how) a small laser to measure teh speed of the ball as it hit the wheel, and thus calculate which quadrant it would likely come to rest in?
the gamblers then would place their bets AFTER the ball was released in to the wheel, but obviously before it came to rest.
they were found out and banned.
dunno if it was an Aprils Fool day joke, but I remember something of that nature.

In fairness if the rules I first saw posted when this competition was posted were in force when they traded it I would be amazed if they had not coughed money because what was being proposed bears no relation to trading as I understand and practice it..akin to trying do the 100 mtrs wearing ankle bracelets....no offence to any who were involved ,but I thought outside of a bit of sharp advertising it was very naive.

An Edge is very valuable. In fact it is priceless, when you look out of your window and you see others working very hard digging the road or driving a bus like someone we all know and you pause to reflect you appreciate just how valuable it is.

Now an Edge does not come easily. It is the result of very hard work on several fronts. After this very hard work is done the Edge begins to make itself manifest.

This manifestation is not sudden. It is a gradual process but at a very early stage it reveals itself to be viable and permanent, which is what a permanent Edge is all about.

But the route requires singular application and not collective effort.

This may seem a contradiction to you, but it is the absolute truth.

Now you are trying to achieve the unachievable because you are sharing.

I have told you before and it falls on deaf ears, but it is not achievable via the sharing route. In fact, the curious thng about it is, that it is not shareable once it is attained either.

So it is a chicken and egg situation, and you are going about it the wrong way.

That is why I have told you it is about competing, and about the survival of the fittest, and not about seeking comfort and clubbing together and forming knitting circles in the vain belief that by sharing the task becomes easier.

But you are one of the lucky ones, few have been able to make much sense of his pronouncements. Their loss I’m sure. However, my point being that although you do not view him as a teacher or having set himself up to be one, most of those others out there do.

If SOCRATES’ genuine intent was to raise awareness, then he has done so spectacularly, but not in an area of interest to the majority of those who habituate these boards. For psychology hounds (like me) he has been a researcher’s dream come true. LOL. If his intent was to raise general awareness of matters related to trading and that assist and facilitate more profitable trading – he has failed in the majority. If his intent was only to reap the cream of the crop, fair enough, those that he did, have done so and good luck to them all.

I have not "fallen under his spell" nor am I one of the lucky ones. I have tried to explain it many times but people either refuse to understand or my explanations are inadequate. I have worked relentlessly, tirelessly, assiduously and on many occasions, disastrously to arrive at where I am now. SOCRATES is right in everything he says. I have proven it to myself, repeatedly. I have given up trying to convince anyone else of this fact. People can either choose to languish in mediocrity or transcend it. I was determined to transcend it.
