"GREAT" Britain

Youv'e wandered into a serious discusssion, about the state of the UK at the present time

You mean the UK, with trillion dollar + economy, universal health care, universal education, clean drinking water for all, minimum wage, freedom of speech, no civil war, no famines, no tsunamis earthquakes or poison scorpions, culture and traditions, human rights, tolerance, respect, rule of law, no torture or secret police, infastructure, best tv in the world, and a fresh government cleaning up, where being born instantaneously puts you in the privileged 10% of all human life on the planet.

If you don't like it, **** off and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, and take whatever media organ you get your opinions from with you.

The Labour Government in the 1970s Ruined the country. it needed a "TOUGH" leader, to have got us out of the mess.

"The Lady" put greatness in the British pride!, Can Cameron be as tough as Thatcher?
There must be NO mercy............
Total RUTHLESS.....

Get rid of the b**** ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
Get Rid of the B*** QUANGOS
Get rid of the B*** BENEFIT CHEATS

cameron you got to be RUTHLESS

what ya say?

I say, I wonder how old you are, and how much of the history of the 1970s you are familiar with?

The Conservatives were in power from 1970-1974. During that period, Ted Heath fell out with the miners, and the result was something called the "Three Day Week", which didn't do UK productivity a whole heap of good.

There was also something called the "Barber Boom", which was a highly inflationary "dash for growth" which went wrong, and left the incoming Labour government with inflation out of control to try to deal with. (It wasn't the only factor, but it was one of them).

Another factor was the oil crisis of those years, which screwed both Britain and the United States, among others. It was certainly a tough time, but to blame it all on the Labour government(s) of 1974-1979 is rather unfair.

I hope that you are never in need of any benefits after they have all been cut by politicians following your "recipe".

Thatcher did **** all for industry, neither did Blair or Brown, and neither will Cameron, Gideon or Cloggie.

That's why we are in, and will remain in, such a mess.

In all seriousness, i do think education is a major factor. I was lucky, my mum sweated 2 jobs to put me through public school.I learnt respect, discipline, a work ethic, etc, which sadly seems to be lacking nowdays. Look at the tv progs that are popular- britains got talent, x factor etc- brain dead people watching and entering believing that they are talented, if only they can be discovered. What feeds this self delusion? How many do you reckon could list any of Shakespeares works, could tell you who Plato was, have any conception of the law of diminishing returns?
We are churning out young people who are unemployable, with worthless qualifications, who cant finish a sentence without, innit?
I'm in my early 40's, but what happened to common respect and good manners? What happened to working hard? Nowdays every idiot seems to think the world owes him a living. The last 30 years do not bode well.
Yep, the US and Cad seem favourite. California- somewhere around Carmel, or Monterrey would do nicely, plus your'e near Pebble Beach to play golf. A truly lovely part of the world. Canada- Whats not to like about Montreal ?
To the arsewipe who suggested the Antartic, 23 yrs old, such a big boy!Grow up ar--WIPE, I guarantee you'll be singing a different hymn in 20 yrs time.

Ah public school. Look, if you think that it is necessary to go to public school in order to learn about respect, discipline and a work ethic, then I would respectfully suggest that you haven't learned much about life in your forty-odd years. But you have highlighted one thing that I can relate to: parental influence. I don't think it is education as such that is the problem. Rather it is lack of good parenting, for whatever reason. All those virtues, and many others, of which you speak are not learned at school, but in the home, and ideally from two parents. I am not saying that all children of single-parent homes turn out badly, but it must be a hell of a lot tougher to cope as a single parent than as one of a couple (and that's tough enough).

By the way, you may not be a racist, but you did make several xenophobic statements.
Just joking, I imagine.

We have all the same problems over here in the US, so don't anyone one go thinking the grass is greener on the other side. The only thing greener is the politicians pockets...no matter what part of the world they govern.

Peter

It all just goes to sap the moral of those who can do...when I think of the considerable sum in taxes i've paid over the years...all of it and more squandered on a hill o beans...

That really does ram home what's good about the UK.

I have a friend who does the same thing (incapacity benefits even though he is fine) and has at least as much disposable money as my friends who go to jobs

Cameron needs to kick the ass of these crooks, they should be made to clean the streets

.

well it was the bl*** unions and left wingers in charge of the unions, and the nation was held to a ransom.

Though never a great fan of Thatcher, but got to give her credit, she tamed the bullies

I wouldn't be much of a friend then, would I, lol.

This is the problem...if everyone has the same attitude then it just goes on and on and on.

Clearly the problem lies with benefit scroungers being paid too much. If all benefits were reduced to 1/3rd minimum wage, then there would be an incentive to go back to work eh.

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

You sad stupid foolish little mug

I sit around in my luxury flat in Chelsea (London) spending my days relaxing, watching tv/porn, wanking, drinking, going clubbing, earning some easy cash-in-hand from ebay, and doing whatever the **** i like to do...,

While the hundreds of pounds thats taken away from you in tax every month is used to pay part of the £2,286 tax-free cash that gets transferred automatically into my bank account every single month, 12months per year, in benefits money!! :cheesy::p:cool:

I get £1,540 per month housing benefit, £267 per month jsa, £60 per month top-up payments, £300 per month travel allowance benefit, and £119 per month council tax benefit.

Check the various government benefits websites to see the pay-rates for yourself if you don't believe me. :cheesy::LOL::whistle:smart:

And the beautiful thing is that the government have themself admitted clearly and directly that they WON'T and DON'T have the power or intention to make any changes whatsoever in lowering any of these pay-rates!!:cheesy::LOL:

Read it for yourself in the 369 page benefits reform plan document that the Welfare Minister Iian Duncan Smith wrote and published himself a few months ago detailed every aspects of what changes hes going to/not going make to the benefits system!

And as much as tories hate it they even admit themself that itd take nearly 10years to get all the white paper, policiy idea discussions and votes, implmentation plans, and all the other stuff needed to even attempt to lower the housing benefit and jsa pay-rates!! :cheesy::LOL::LOL::cheesy:

Good spot Sir, of course my comments about our European neighbours were in jest. It's nice to play Devils Advocate occasionally.I think that the idiotic responses actually highlight another issue, people taking themselves too seriously, a complete lack of a sense of humour. But to get back to the point.
The mention of public school was only to illustrate my family's plight to work hard and to improve their circumstances. This is normal, yes?
I agree 100 % with the parenting theme. I actually have a very good friend who is of ethnic minority, who is a single parent. She goes out and grafts everyday,to provide for her daughter. What upsets her, is as she puts it,kids having kids. These teenage mothers know full well the benefit system is stacked in their favour. But think for a second how are these kids going to grow up? In the scenarios i am aware of, there is no father, the nuclear family as we know it in a large proportion of childrens lives no longer exists.
Where do we go from here? In South London, guns are rife, these kids gravitate to gangs, it's frightening what is going on out there.
I cannot see a solution, the problems will only be exacerbated infinitum.
Hence, **** off and find a place where these problems (probably in their infancy), are not so entrenched.
Plus, i echo the poster about where my taxes went. I worked in the interbank mkt for more years than i care to remember, spot fx and otc options. What the **** did the 50-80 grand a year i paid in tax, go towards? Helping these illegal immigrants? Christ, i'm off , see you in Gibraltar.
