Inevitably it seems, well, for me and most other traders I know, there is something somewhere in the vicinity of their trading desk, a piece of paper with a few major pointers written on it to help them get through.............

Personally, I have;

Trade the damn plan, fool!

Trade each position like it was a grand a point

Everything happens for a reason

On my trading desk:

Five screens
Three keyboards
Three mice
National Insurance payment thing
Chewed paper
New Scietist
Ripped Paper
Nationwide Online Banking Thing
First Direct piece of paper
Plastic bag (no branding)
Scissors
Home made periscope for looking out of window (made from piece of A4, foil from crisp packet, and masking tape - doesn't work)
Two cardboard boxes
Three more cardboard boxes
Some furry thing
Diary my granny sent me with her birthday written in it (a hint?)
Phone for dialling speaking clock and market services
Shoe polishing kit
Sky remote
Chewed pen

Tbh Wasp I reckon those kinds of notices are just one step up from wearing a wallace and gromit tie and having a coffee mug with "You don't have to be mad to work here but it helps" written on it :p

(Only joking :D)

You need more cardboard boxes mate.

Cardboard boxes?

Luxury!

I trade with some papyrus, a quill pen, and send my trade decisions by carrier pigeon.
I trade from the bottom of a lake.

Kids! They dont know they're born.

(apologies to Monty Python)

I used to buy into tatooing motos etc to my forehead (so to speak), but find that getting wound up in such superstition of making notes, & often the same notes over & over etc. can ultimately be a waste of time/energy.
So now, when i trade i have a plan, i keep a mental note to stick to the plan, or stick to the plan as best as possible.
The superstition ends there for me now. If doing intraday stuff, I chill, listen to the radio, have the occasional bite of food, and at regular intervals listen to Bob Marleys version of....Don't worry, be happy......and like Bob, but unlike CB, i save the wacky tobacco for afterwards!

The songs a really calming influence for me. So i think its worthwhile that i quote the lyrics here -

whistling)
Here's a little song i wrote,
you might want to sing it note for note,
don't worry, be happy

in every life we have some trouble,
when you worry you make it double
don't worry, be happy

dont worry be happy now
dont worry be happy
dont worry be happy
dont worry be happy
dont worry be happy
aint got no place to lay your head,
somebody came and took your bed,
don't worry, be happy

the landlord say your rent is late,
he may have to litagate,
dont worry (small laugh) be happy,

look at me im happy,
don't worry, be happy

i give you my phone number,
when your worried, call me,
i make you happy

don't worry, be happy

aint got no cash, aint got no style,
aint got no gal to make you smile
but don't worry, be happy

cos when you worry, your face will frown,
and that will bring everybody down,
so don't worry, be happy

don't worry, be happy now...

don't worry, be happy
don't worry, be happy
don't worry, be happy
don't worry, be happy

now there this song i wrote
i hope you you learned it note for note
like good little children

dont worry be happy

listen to what i say
in your life expect some trouble
when you worry you make it double
dont worry be happy
be happy now

dont worry, be happy
dont worry, be happy
dont worry, be happy
dont worry, be happy
dont worry
dont worry be happy
don't worry, don't worry, don't do it,
be happy, put a smile on your face,
don't bring everybody down like this

don't worry, it will soon pass whatever it is,
don't worry, be happy,
i'm not worried

In my case, i have a single pc, paper, pencil, calculator, some time and some stress to deal with, for a begginer thats all you need.

Complete kit?

I always think it'd be nice to have a tidy desk..................... someday

(actually, I'm amazed - it almost looks er, sort of organised in that photo)

Wasp, what does WASP stand for in the financial community. Is it an acronym for something ??

I know it may sound like a stupid question but I've been wondering about this for some time.
