South Africans are just too good .........

I'm watching it whilst I work.........

finished my day job and calling it a day

off to whirling Dervish evening

are you guys using IG index/IG Markets Advanced Charts, by any chance?

Used them today for first time.
Put time frame to one day.....1min intervals......pretty neat!! (yes im new)

Would that sort of charting be enough to follow markets during day, and make trade decisions?
I was seeing RSI move up and down in real time......

I also noticed Dow (wall street cash) chart and FTSE chart looked exactly the same!!!
I noticed FTSE shot up at 2.30pm onwards.... when down opened.... and the pattern was the same...

1min TF is too short i would have thought...it'll drive you nuts eventually. too much noise.

pre 2.30 i believe the DAX is important re the FTSE; post 2.30 the DOW leads.

thanks....so 5 or 10 min chart?
TF = time frame?
TIme frame was like one day/morning...but each bar was 1 minute.....thats what i mean......

DAX = germany, right?

just noticed...after the dotcom crash....in 2001......2003 recovery july.... FTSE: when 10 and 50MA went above the 200....that was upwards sailing from then on......CURRENTLY: it looks like its gonna happen again soon.....

what TF have you found works best for you so far in your analysis/testing jon?

dude, im just learning here. Ive made all winning trades but i guess i was lucky, as i did them not kknowing much at all. .... so konw i realise i need to learn how it all works. Im in period of testing and learning. ....but ive usually used weekly and daily charts mostly.
But i was just fascianted today, seeing the 1min candlesticks in IG....moving in real time.... and looking at one day FTSE charts....
(im basically getting interested in shorter candlesticks..... intraday so to speak)
i think intraday means less than daily bars....

any tips would be great... all the books say choose handful of markets and stick to those...
FTSE is one that i have chosen.... so here i am. :)

well then welcome jon, if you're just starting day trading the FTSE, then this thread of Wallstreets is a good place to be.

i'm new to this too and i'm learning a lot from being here. :)

just as a suggestion, if you're already familiar with long TF's maybe stick with your analysis of the dailies for your wide picture, use a 1hr TF for intraday with a 10min TF for your entry/exits.

as i say, i'm new, so just a suggestion.

poss bear flag tagged onto a rectangle? no osc div counters this idea though.

i won't be around again 2moro, so i won't get to see how it pans out...wonder if a friday sell off puts us back in the range, or if we finally get outside of 4512.

EDIT: i appear to have been a little 'creative' with my spelling of continuing.

good luck everyone for 2moro :)
