Vote Conservative

Poor ole Maiden seems a bit confused :cheesy:

Maybe he meant " scum bags of the world unite " or something

Brothers! Pat494 is declared an enemy of the proletariat! Send him for re-education in the gulag!

In other news, Comrades Badger and "Facepalm" Broon report that the socialist revolution continues to be rewarded by further progress against the capitalist menace. Tractor production has increased for the 13th consecutive year!

For those that have never come across it before, that was a genuine slogan:

That's our Clegg for you. So far so good...

I would prefer to see Liberal and Labour than a Lib & Tory pact.

Also referendum on PR? Pretty obvious to me what the public will say. Let's play stall tactics and waste millions of £s.

Never the less another election looking likely. That Goldsmith geezer better have deep pockets. I guess CV can also help out with a penny or two... :cheesy:

Well you never know of course, but I would guess it will take maybe 12 months at the outside. Can't see anything holding together for much longer than that.

And the Goldsmith geezer needs recycling soonest. He's already beginning to stink lol.

I reckon markets may take a dive tomorrow as the word is they prefer Lib-Tory... Reason being is having squandered billions they want the tax payer to square up the budgets as soon as.

Isn't it a topsy turdy World we live in??? :cheesy:

The problem with Lab Lib other other other and his uncle pacts is........nobody voted for it...in fact if thats the way its headed then I suggest we get organised and blockade parliament....no fekkin way did the public vote for second and third rate parties and a pile of minority interest groups to take power. This country is turning into a joke.

Mark my words....if the Libs jump in with the Labs....there will be hell on ! and the Libs will never be trusted to do the right thing ever again.

The country is in a diz. No-one knows what is best. Unfortunately, the electorate did not take to the libs the way it was hoped. He lost seats. Clegg wants change, too, but he'll have to decide where he is better able to get it.

Obviously the electorate has not got a clue what on earth it is doing

The masses have clearly elected some people who can't possibly form a viable Govt

We need reform all right. Reform of the electorate !!

What about a brownie points system ?

So at birth the child starts with a clean slate and throughout its life it earns brownie points. More points then more votes for that person. Crimes score a minus amount and less than zero is - no votes. So the qualified have a greater say and responsibility than yer average binge drinking yobo ????????????????????????

In all seriousness, there is a real problem with universal suffrage in an age like ours. For one thing, most people lack the critical facilities to discern three tons of bullsh1t at 5 yards, so politicians are able to say whatever they want without fear of being rumbled.

Another problem is that the concept of shame has vanished. Therefore huge numbers of people see nothing wrong in simply voting for the ones who promise to give them a huge dollop of other people's money.

But they didn't really vote for the Conservatives either. 35% of the vote is not especially convincing.

New Zealand has had coalition governments for a number of years and life goes on much the same.

35% of 65% - I make that just shy of 23% of the electorate.

Sadly, it's just standard practice for British politicians to crow about their "mandate" from the people when they have nothing of the sort.

It's particularly galling when they use it to justify the fringe policies they want to introduce - "It was in the manifesto, we have a mandate blah blah blah".

4rseholes.

but, but, but...

...this is how consumerism (which is a major driving force of much of modern-day capitalism) works. You bombard the masses every day with visual, aural and verbal crap in order ("the hidden persuaders") in order to make them buy more and more actual crap. Style over substance; Quatsch over quality, Good service and value for money go out of the window. It's about providing the least for the most.

It has come to the point where it seems to be thought of as an advance in democracy when the ultimate in political debate is for a trio of clones stand up and give us their patter like so many washing-powder salesmen. No wonder there was a meaningless "Clegg Surge".

The people have behaved exactly how they have been educated to behave, and the country will pay the ultimate price.

No argument from me. But what do we do about it?

All I'm saying is we need something new, just temporary-like.

How about a benevolent dictatorship under someone like me (exactly like me in fact), for an interim period of say 60 or 70 years? By then we might have a populace once more fitted for democracy. More likely, we'd have no populace, as I'm honest enough to know I'd be signing death warrants with a rubber stamp before the end of the first week, but still.

I wouldn't want to be Beloved-Leader-For-Life, as is so popular in certain African states. Not for any reasons of modesty or constitutional propriety you understand, but more because one's opponents tend to accept this without qualms and then murder one 6 months later in the course of storming one of the many presidential palaces.

A few days ago the bookies had the CON-lib coalition as a massive odds on certainty.

Just look at what they are saying today.

A coin toss ?

Just guessing but I expect the adrenalin of power has completely addled their brains as it usually does. They quickly think they are god's special people and over stated their bargaining position to land up with nothing but broken dreams.

oh well

Dave for PM with Vince as Chancellor ?

Betfair are giving a free bet away
