Concerning the backtests:
This is not an easy task. You have to consider several points. First of all you have to make yourself familiar with the Strategy Tester.
The best is to google for it. There are many good articles.
Most important are the historical data. You can buy them for a lot of money, or load them from Metaquotes. Both are not recommended.
The best data source at the time being is Alpari RU.
Just open an demo-account and load the historical data.
After that disconnect the MT4-platform and start playing with the backtests and follow the articles (from google) and from youtube.

Today was a U.S. holiday, banks closed, I stayed out.
I trade TMT on two accounts with the same settings. Today I got a trade on GoMarkets, but no trade on IAMFX. I checked the logs, and IAMFX logs say "trade context busy" and "failed - common error". I think some brokers like IAMFX are just messing with us.

No trade this morning although FMT rules would have suggested a buy. I guess there must be something in TMT holding back? Not too worried as one of the indicators was borderline.
My mt4 crashed so I couldn't get a trade anyway. I see fmt was a loser. Did anyone else on turbo have a no trade like blackstick? Saved by the adr filter?

No trade for me on my live account thankfully, either for TMT or FMT. However, my demo account did trade FMT, for a full loss. Both are with Alpari UK.

+35 pips this morning....
I've changed the trading window on TMT to start between 0615 and 0630. In backtests (and in real time) this proves to be significantly more succesful. Although I can't offer a reason why this is the case (other than maybe the price is better at open), these settings may be better with other brokers.
BTW I am spread betting with SLM. My settings are:
SL 45
BE at 25
BE add 5 pips
TP1 30 @ 50%
TP2 35
