trading during war

Quoted here are some reasons for attacking Iran in a debate between War Monger and Peace Nik

PN: North Korea actually has large amounts of usable chemical,
biological, AND nuclear weapons, AND long range missiles that can reach the
west coast AND it has expelled nuclear weapons inspectors, AND threatened to
turn America into a sea of fire.

WM: That's a diplomatic issue.

PN: So why are we attacking Iran instead of using diplomacy?

WM: Aren't you listening? We are attacking Iran because we cannot allow the
inspections to drag on indefinitely. Iran has been delaying, deceiving, and
denying for over ten years, and inspections cost us tens of millions.

PN: But I thought war would cost us tens of billions.

WM: Yes, but this is not about money. This is about security.

PN: But wouldn't a pre-emptive war against Iran ignite radical Muslim
sentiments against us, and decrease our security?

WM: Possibly, but we must not allow the terrorists to change the way we
live. Once we do that, the terrorists have already won.

PN: So what is the purpose of the Department of Homeland Security,
color-coded terror alerts, and the Patriot Act? Don't these change the way
we live?

WM: I thought you had questions about Iran.

PN: I do. Are we going to invade Iran like Iraq ?

WM: For the last time, we invaded Iraq because the world called on
Saddam Hussein to disarm, and he failed to do so. He then faced the
consequences.

PN: So we are going to bomb the Iranian nuclear plants, in case they are making nuclear bombs.

WM: There are plenty of rogue scientists out there that have the " know how" to make WMD and the balistic missiles to carry them.

PN: Are we doing anything about that ?

WM: The Iranian ones are being eliminated by us and the Israelis.

PN: , If the world called on us to do something, such as find a
peaceful solution, we would have an obligation to listen?

WM: By "world", I meant the United Nations.

PN: So, we have an obligation to listen to the United Nations?

WM: By "United Nations" I meant the Security Council.

PN: So, we have an obligation to listen to the Security Council?

WM: I meant the majority of the Security Council.

PN: So, we have an obligation to listen to the majority of the Security
Council?

WM: Well... there could be an unreasonable veto.

PN: In which case?

WM: In which case, we have an obligation to ignore the veto.

PN: And if the majority of the Security Council does not support us at all?

WM: Then we have an obligation to ignore the Security Council.

PN: That makes no sense.

WM: If you love Iran so much, you should move there. Or maybe France, with
all the other cheese-eating surrender monkeys. It's time to boycott their
wine and cheese, no doubt about that.

PN: I give up!

There is a dim-witted moron in another thread saying that Capitalism has clearly failed, yet it is a country with a highly centralized command economy that needs food aid :!:

If Nit Wit thinks the present state of play across the world is a justification of capitalism then clearly he is an idiot !! It is idiots like himself that have made such a mess of things. Rogue scientists will make WMDs and balistic missiles for mad leaders just for pots of money !

Capitalism has its serious defects too

You, just like the other imbecile use the same straw man argument where you only recognise 2 state of affairs, ie/ If it isn't socialism it is capitalism. You don't want to entertain the notion of Fascism at all because in your eyes, Fascism was a 1930's & 40's dictatorial state. Sure, capitalism has some defects, but would you rather be starving and relying on food aid from rich countries or would you rather be living and working in one of those rich countries?

'Americans' can be replaced with some names in this forum and other Socialists..

“Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom. The subjection of individuals will increase amongst democratic nations, not only in the same proportion as their equality, but in the same proportion as their ignorance.” —Alexis de Tocqueville

Howabout you explain it greatest successes of the last ten years.

There are no examples in the last 10 years and more because we have central planners who think they know how to set interest rates better than the free market, and we have been off a gold standard since 1971. You would would have to go back to 1940's - 1950's or even better, the 1800's...The record for real economic growth while we were on a gold standard surpasses the growth we have ever experienced while off it.

I hope that is not a plug for Fascism ? Their serious defects included genocide, war and etc etc.I am trying to cherry pick the best of the best and cobble it all togethor into something that is reasonable and workable.

obvious rubbish. Who could entertain such nonsense but our deluded friend Nit Wit :)

stroll on
nothing much will change imho

Exactly my point.
It has reached an extreme and therefore will fail.
As have every other style of government and financial system of the past.

I always used to support the American ideology over Soviet Communism not because it was perfect but it was less awful than a system maintained by secret police and repression.

i.e. the lesser evil

lots of room for improvement though guys imho

Oh who here gives a forkin forkers fork about Iran and its destruction during a war. We are TRADERS (well most of us) so we will just buy or sell the oil market spikes and their related stocks.

Read the OP.

He was asking about trading during a specific event. Not the rights and wrongs about that event.

Is there not a lounge/off topic section or something here to talk crap.

War with Iran=Cl UP=USD DOWN. Haven't checked back what happened to the respective markets in March 2003 so will some kind friend please do this for me.

Talks with Iran have failed again in Baghdad. Now onto Moscow but I doubt there will be any agreement. I think US foreign policy will lead us into world war 3 with a strike on Iran.

A strike on Iran will be global in nature and potentially with the use of WMD.

I wonder if investors will still flock to the USD as a safe haven with a MIddle East war that goes global.
And will there still be people making money trading currency - or will fx trading disappear? No one knows of course......wish we did not have to find this out......as we seem headed towards war.

War is good for the economy. Everyone will be employed at producing arms and there will be no more need for gambling and speculation. A new world order is needed. The only way to reach it is a war frenzy.

Times are indeed hard and we have to learn to be able to live with Peace and Harmony so that their are no wars:clap:

If only I had listened to my own advice years ago and bought some gold "bling" when the price of gold was way cheaper. I even went to the local jewellery shop but recoiled in horror at $600 an once. Yes about the time our leader Gordon ( the brainless ) was selling off British gold.

Democratic politicians lie their way into power and then have to overspend. Same ole story. Print off some more money.
