I enjoy playing both...not super at either but they are great games!
Not played either for a while but I have been playing them a bit more lately.

OK I've just found ww.chess.com which looks like it's free and cross-platform, also found www.freechess.org which is free, but I'm not sure if it is cross-platform. Anyone have experience of these?

There is probably an app to show the positions graphically.
I had a quick look but couldn't find one.
Haven't played a game for 40 years.
But I do play poker on Poker Stars a bit.
