Interesting anti-spyware program I recently came across. Free version seems to have most of the pertinent features. May find it worth a look. Found stuff on my PC despite being covered by Ad-aware, Spybot, Ewido, and Windows Defender

Hi rougetrader
Do you think they add spyware during the scan just to make it look good?

I do . I spent months trying out all the free one's and I suspect there's a bit of jiggery pockery going on.

I finally downloaded this - http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/ - and all my spyware scanners are now redundant! I run clean up evey time I shut down and I have never found any spyware since. The scanner is super fast and my system seem faster aswell. :D

LOL :devilish: Please don't feed my cynicism. Whilst that may or may not be the case, the fact of the matter is that when it comes to spyware there is no one-stop shop. I never install these type of products unless they have been tested and rated by a sources I consider to be reputable, I also troll the forums for an overview of what individual users think, this combination avoids a lot of dodgy programs.

Cleanup is a good little utility, personally I prefer http://www.ccleaner.com/
much the smae, I think everybody should run one of these little apps. BTW neither of these two applications are a replacement for ant-spyware anti-spyware

These are not anti spyware/adware programmes. They are disk cleaners.
You should continue to use Spybot and Ad-aware. I also use SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and WinPatrol.
Ain't nothing gets past that lot. :cheesy:

by the way, yes the free programmes do put in false positives to get you to upgrade to their "pro" setup.

Returnil

I downloaded this at the weekend and I think it is one of the best progs ever. I let my 7 year old Grandson loose on my computer and he changed it beyond recognition. I then restarted the computer and it was back as it was before the little monster arrived. :D

Free trial readers review ect here-

http://www.download.com/Returnil-Virtual-System/3000-8022_4-10602629.html?tag=lst-0-1

If you try this out remember that you will have to switch it of to have anything written to your hard drive - windows updates, data ect

Is this the end for virus and spyware? :cheesy:
