Sticky Introduce Yourself

Hello everyone

This seems like a nice friendly place and would welcome a keen but largely unsuccessful part-time Binary trader who believes that it is possible to make steady money from this strange financial trading method.
At least I've learned to lose much less than I did when I was spread betting!
Here's hoping I learn a thing or two from you all.
Thanks

Hey everyone,

Newbie here. My name is Andy, 19 years old, been reading into trading for some time now but not got my hands dirty yet. Here to hopefully expand on my knowledge and start trading over the summer!

Also been looking at betonmarkets, anyone a regular user here?

One more point, I'm from Bristol so if anyone here is local and wants to meet up and share their knowledge, maybe become a mentor of some sort, that would be pretty cool!

Thanks,

Andy

Hi,

I am new to the game, about a years financial experience,a degree and a years worldwide travelling are listed on my CV. None of which I expect will help me too much. Basically joined the forum to ask for some advise, Whats the best way to get involved in trading, junior trading, etc. I dont mind licking stamps and making teas for as long as it takes I just want to get invovled. Any advise will help, or anyone looking to train junior traders? I wont sell myself on here, we'll meet?

thanks all,
Johnny

I am a newbee, currently have zero knowledge on trading. I am reading, getting involved with discussion communities, test strategies, making goals/rules and finding my own personal limitations regarding trading. I will not trade (no gamble) a single dollar of my hard earned money until a solid business (not a hobby) infrastructure is in place. This will take many, many months if not more for myself to be comfortable with the responsibility of becoming a day trader.

Patiently waiting...
John

New here but not new to trading.

For me each trade starts as a scalp to first target. So I define my style as a scalper; always on the look out for the bigger trade.
I trade the ES, FESX, FDAX.
My focus is on price and price bar patterns. I use range charts. This defines price without time into specific brackets. I pay close attention to the ratio of trading price on the building bars defined size. I also pay close attention to the speed of the bar building in relation to the previous bar. I pay close attention to the last few bars position in relation the nearby s&r. I pay close attention to the dom orders and cummulative order buildup as price approaches the trading bid/ask. I use market profile for volume distribution of current days trading, of pervious sessions tpo/vol areas, and of the kill zones. I use the volume at the price point setup for entry at the best possible moment I can see. I use standard and customized tools to help me define a trading opportunity before moving in to focus on the entry opportunity for minimal risk.
I am near 90% accurate to first target. My first target is 1 point (4 ticks). I trade 2 and 3c lots depending on the setups rating. I have only 2 trade setups, and 2 variations for add points or re-entry. I use a 6 tick money stop, and a 10 tick catastrophy stop on each trade. I also employ the free trade principle once I have some of the markets money to play with. I trade to my daily quota and stop trading for the day. I usually only trade 2 hours a day. Then I go and focus on the other parts of my profession ..ie - places like this and private clients.

I have had a few great mentors (and some real assholes), and have spent a fortune learning mostly the hard and costly way. If I can save anyone that pain, then I will. Its the least I can do, since in the exchange there is something for me. It keeps me sharp, keeps me focused and constantly under review and scrutiny. This is a tough profession and even tougher business. It is not for everyone.
My method works for me. I do not know all the answers and do not have your secret answer. But I can help if only to keep you from making the most gross mstakes.
I am a professional trader. Anyone here is free to trade with me at any time, or ask me questions between trades.

G-Lew Introduction

Hi Gang,

I've been around for awhile. I started studying the markets back in the late 70s and got hooked on trading early. I was a student of Richard Ney and got addicted to watching the tape. I later earned an MBA from Northwestern and worked in many financial areas.

I was a Futures Trading Specialist with the CFTC for six years and spent a lot of time on the floors of the Board of Trade and Merc. I then took a position in Mexico City as a VP of a bank and was on the committee to establish futures and options in Mexico.

I returned to the states and after a stint at a mutual fund company, found myself as a founding member of an ultra high net worth estate planning boutique in Indianapolis. I found that being an expert in derivatives enabled me to put together structured portfolios designed to achieve a specific rate of return with minimal risk. This was ideal for rich people who were really happy to consistently earn 8 - 10% year after year instead of having tremendous market volatility.

Over the past five years, I have worked at a major insurance company working as a senior financial planner for the firm and finally director of financial planning over a large region.

I am now in my mid-50s and semi-retired. I'm focused on trading 10 year note and bond options and do pretty well consistently. I've been doing it on and off for about six years now and have it down pretty well (except when Bernanke tries to manipulate things). I'm getting more into writing and started writing several blogs and am writing a book on my market strategies. I was writing a piece on options when I stumbled upon your site and signed up.

Hope to continue learning and growing with your help.

Hi,

I am Atul from India. I have been thinking of Day Trading Dow for some time.

Have found that I can trade using CFDs (Contract For Difference) based on DOW with City Trading Corporation based in Singapore as trading on Dow futures is not allowed in India.

Would be taking a plunge very shortly.

Would be happy to receive any guidance or feedback about City Trading, Singapore if anybody has previous experience.

Thanks,

Atul.
