If It's All About making Money?

Ireland can be used as a tax haven if I remember rightly.
It certainly can if you've written a couple of books. Authors pay no income tax on their royalties there. The Carberry Coast is absolutely crawling with thriller-writers.

Frederick Forsyth being a case in point... oi tink

And he's made a few bob trading (books that is)

After all this thread is about making money from trading...

Therefore this post is not irrelevant!

Oh dear,
the L2 is spoofed, T2W is spoofed, and now the spoofers are being spoofed... it will all end in tears I tells ya :-(

I'd be uncommonly surprised to discover every market on the planet isn't spoofed/manipulated - not because I'm a cynic but because it would take a fair amount of backbone and integrity NOT to take advantage when a method to profit by such means is found. In my experience people possess that integrity in varying amounts, indirectly proportional to the amount of profit on the table for the most part.
You know it's rife when even the trading books start explaining what to look for on the L2 screen.

I came across this thread by chance when this strange and amusing post caught my eye .

my God , what a joke . who does this guy think he is ? high level discussions ?
HAHAHAHA.

he makes out like it's tudor jones talking trade secrets with randy mackay .
It is now 714 PM precisely. This thread has remained silent for a total of three and a half hours. This is because as I warned last night there was a risk of these discussions becoming submerged. This is exactly what has happened during this period of silence to you, but very interesting discussions continue in private through a separate secure medium.

Now you are excluded, you can laugh from the other side of your face too, or do you think we are here so that you can be impertinent and rude and be rewarded with knowledge at the same time as well ?

Now you may carry on with nonsense appropriate to your level and not ours.

And don't bother to ask, or even apologise, because you will not be told, that is guaranteed,
Wisestguy indeed.

In my experience, when a wise man removes his cousel he has little reason to return and point out its removal. To do so speaks volumes.
As for your side-kick I have reviewed his thirty odd posts and it is clear he has done little but abuse and flame most members of the site either directly or in generalization. The mourning of such a loss I suspect will be shortlived indeed.

Lot of ego on this thread

ego kills

looking smart kills

goading others kills

emotion kills

urge for action kills

no plan kills

no size is no use

getting even with the market kills

upsetting oneself kills

trying to outsmart others works against one

He who angers you conquers you.

Good lord,
and there I was programming away etc completely unaware that I was contributing to somebody's ostracism!

i'm genuinely at a loss here... what on earth is the matter? It is perfectly normal for intelligent people to disagree, even to become somewhat angry in the process, but the truly intelligent don't dig lines in the sand, they don't become stubborn, they don't need to insult others in a 'flame war' and once tempers have cooled a bit they make friends.

As far as this 'learner' (and proud of it, I might add - those who cease to learn cease to exist in my book, and anybody feeling superior had better have some fairly stunning credentials) goes this is just another example of battling egos - well fine, battle away. We beginners will just carry on the way we always have, and whilst we might not be passing pure gold across in out posts we'll at least like each other and meet for the odd pint.

I am sure it had nothing to do with the fact that it was Sunday afternoon.

Its a shame we missed the high level debate between Socrates and 1lot but the football was on and watching Chelsea lose could not be missed :)

If people find fault with you and try to put you into bad light, wrongly slandering and vilifying you, just step back and observe yourself.Words that stings the deepest is the words that is never spoke, Let the other fellow wrangle till the storm has blown away, then he'll do a heap of thinking about the things you didn't say.

This is my last reply as I have to be fresh for tomorrow mornings amusements at the open.

It may be both. It may be that the method applied is incorrect as a result of warped reasoning or perceptual bias or a combination thereof.

This is like watching a powerboat race.

Imagine if you are surrounded by bystanders arguing whether the sea is rushing under the boat and gushing backwards, whilst another lot are arguing that the boat and the sea are stationary but the boat is squirting a wake behind it, whereas another lot are arguing that the spectacle is a trick, an optical illusion.

None of this is the case, of course. But the bystanders insist on arguing, so much so that the only one in the crowd who percieves the truth, that is, that the boat is moving through the water and is creating a wake, becomes so overwhelmed by the collective contradiction against what he truly experiences that the poor fellow ultimately gives in and walks away.

I am off to bed now. Goodnight.
These posts above preceding this present post are very good example of a closed loop argument, and what is more to the point irrelevant with individuals who like to argue for the sake of arguing. I posted this last Sunday night, and like last Sunday night, I am doing the same, I am off to bed, Goodnight.

Then why so many arguments?

So to return to the original question in post no. 1...

There you are I've closed the loop completely now.

Human nature!

And some sort of perversity that I do not fully understand... and, which doesn't really bother me either. Some may call me a philistine (not that anyone has yet); that's fine. I believe people do it for kicks. Can't be a*sed personally. But then I'm entitled to those traits in the same way that others are entitled to their argumentative traits.

Maybe Rudeboy could have used the word "debates" instead of "arguments". But that is just semantics.

So, to return to the question

RUDEBOY said:

The answer is. "Because there are".

And, I believe the thread starter retains the right to pull the plug on a thread. So will the thread starter pull the plug, or will the debate run another full circle?

I might move the thread to "The Lounge" if nobody objects?
Sounds good to me.

(You're not opening another can of worms are you? Hehe! The temptation was too strong to resist ;) )

also I must add :

it's about making the most money for the least amount of risk ( capital ) .

I love that . huhuhuh.

As this thread is showing the signs of predictably progressing along the lifecycle of all ‘General’ topic threads, about to collapse backwards under the lack of weight of its own sense of anti-gravity, I thought I’d have a shot at answering the original question.

Bear with me. I have 15 minutes and I feel like being verbose and only accidentally meaningful.

RUDEBOY – the premise is wrong. Not everyone is on the boards to make money.

Any of what I am about to say is absolutely not aimed at any member in particular. If you feel offended – you probably are who I would have been thinking of if I had been.

There are two tenets to consider:-

We attack/revile/despise in others that which we fear most deeply in ourselves

We defend most strongly those things in which we have the least faith

Having just opened myself up to analysis under those same tenets you may draw your own conclusions about TheBramble and what he is currently saying…

It’ll also help you get a handle on those others whose occasional posts are other than trading specific. Not to be used as a weapon, but as a process of understanding and acceptance. (Going for Nobel Peace here).

The majority (as far as I can tell) of those active members on these boards (and it would seem other trading boards too) participate in order to (a) gain knowledge and (b) pass on their own knowledge and their experiences. They are traders (full-time or part-time), wannabe traders (not derogatory) or those just possibly interested in trading, but not actively involved, for whatever reason. (Normal Retail Traders).

BTW - Intertwined with these ‘nuggets’ of empirically useful trading facts, tips, systems, methods, warnings, advices etc scattered throughout the threads are moments of unbridled frivolity. May those who bring such perverted practises to these boards rot in hell for all Eternity (see you all there…).

Then there are the trolls and snipers. They get their satisfactions from pulling everyone and everything down without too much justification, but their sense of malevolence is repaid by those others who engage them (which is what the “T”s and “S”s want anyway) and seek to right the injustices heaped upon them and others by this band of evil-doers. They like to gob off. (Oral Retentive).

Then there are the well-intentioned Newbies who through bad luck rather than personal failing, give up the ghost of finding anything remotely useful on these boards because they’ve walked slap bang into a swathe of totally trading un-related threads that have promising titles, but with a signal:noise so large you’d have to be socially inadequate to be willing to read through it all. This appears to be a temporally cyclical thing and seems to inflict itself upon most boards. It passes. (No Retention whatsoever).

Then we have the self-proclaimed ‘experts’ whose only real ability seems to be to be able to recognise one of their own kind through their ability to, er, recognise one of their own kind…The sole criteria for ‘expert’-hood (and remember the definition of an “Expert” is; “Ex” – somebody who used to be something and “spurt” – a drip under pressure) is the tacit understanding that only those who know it all and have nothing left to learn know they don’t need to post anything at all. That’s the trademark. I guess the real experts don’t even register as members…It makes you wonder what they get out of being on the boards. What can they have to talk about even amongst themselves if they already know it all? It’s all about the withholding of information and the implication they have something you do not. Low self-esteem coupled with inadequate social circle. (Anal Retentive).

So, there you have it. It’s not about making money really. Lots of people all with their own agendas and reasons for being here, mostly to do with personal gratifications of one kind or another, but not all of them to do with the generation of trading profits.

However, we can forgive all the poor souls who use this site for their various purposes as we are all part of it and we and they all have their good points. If only to make us laugh at ourselves when be become too serious.

I really must work on my own signal:noise when it comes to posts here…

Bramble,

We defend most strongly those things in which we have the least faith

I like this one very much.
Faith, belief, in the absence of evidence.
In this context, the defence of the ability to be profitable in the financial markets.

Much heresay, and adequate evidence to contradict the assertions of the pro-lobby, all refuted vehemently by those who possibly yet to become profitable, thereby providing confirmation of your tenet.

As a highly individulistic business, requiring independant analysis, that runs directly contrary to society's mores and expectations, and socialisation process, is it any surprise that there is conflagration on the boards?

Cheers d998

Bramble, your posts never disappoint. I don't know whether it was your intention or not but I find it hilarious ! You are without doubt, by minority concensus, the most entertaining and funny member on this website.

Kind Regards.

"If It's All About making Money, then why so many arguments?"

Well, all the religions are about reaching God, that hasn't stopped them from fighting each other to death.

It's human nature to try and convert everyone. When that fails, we fight.
