Brexit Remain Rage

Do you mean he will not reduce CT to 15%?

Unfortunately yes I think he won't follow through with anything he says, he may of course, but after his performance of lies and deceit during the remain campaign in an attempt to manipulate the public, then I have no reason to believe anything he says now.

Until he actually does something he says he's going to do, then I'm a tad sceptical.

?..........but after his performance of lies and deceit during the remain campaign in an attempt to manipulate the public, then I have no reason to believe anything he says now."...........

Pretty difficult to find anyone on either side who didn't indulge in lies and deceit. Our politicians should be shame faced, but they won't be of course.

For pity's sake stop listening to politicians, its like interviewing pickpockets. You can only be sure that they are going to look after their own interests, not yours.

Brexit live: Leadsom tops poll as Tories hold hustings;

Leadsom overtakes May in ConservativeHome poll of Tory members

This is very big news: Andrea Leadsom has overtaken Theresa May in the ConservativeHome survey of party members about who should be the next leader.

This means it is a mistake to assume that May is the overwhelming favourite. A Leadsom victory has now become a real possibility.

Here is an extract from the ConservativeHome story about the survey.

When we last asked our usual next party Leader question in our regular monthly survey, Liam Fox and Andrea Leadsom were trailing Boris Johnson and Theresa May – who herself was the frontrunner by a whisker

What a difference six days can bring. Johnson is out, Gove is in, we have a final list of runners and riders – and Fox has gone one way, and Leadsom the other.

The former’s ratings are falling through the floor. He led this survey as recently as February with about a fifth of the vote. Now he is down from 13% last month to 5%.

Meanwhile, the latter’s score is soaring into the stratosphere up, up and away. She scoops 38% – a single point higher than Theresa May.

In any other month in living memory, 37% would have been enough to lead the survey. But not any more. This is because the contest that our party respondents want is a two-horse race – a final of Leadsom v May, who between them mop up 75% of the vote.

It is only a survey, not a proper opinion poll, but ConservativeHome has a wide readership among the party membership and its surveys, like this one, regularly attract more than 1,000 responses. This may not be a perfect guide to membership opinion, but it would be very surprising if the Leadsom surge it has identified is not real.

Boris Johnson backs Andrea Leadsom for Tory leadership - reports

Explaining his decision to vote for Andrea Leadsom to be Conservative leader - and prime minister - Boris Johnson MP said: "Andrea Leadsom offers the zap, the drive, and the determination essential for the next leader of this country.

"She has long championed the needs of the most vulnerable in our society. She has a better understanding of finance than almost anyone else in Parliament. She has considerable experience of government. She is level headed, kind, trustworthy approachable and the possessor of a good sense of humour.

"She has specialised in the EU question and successfully campaigned for Leave and will be therefore well-placed to help forge a great post-Brexit future for Britain and Europe. Above all she possesses the qualities needed to bring together Leavers and Remainers in the weeks and months ahead."

Mr Johnson took part in several EU referendum debates with Mrs Leadsom.

CV, I'd rather see Gollum himself take the reigns than Gove, so this news re Leadsome is crackin' news imo

I personally think a woman PM may just be the tonic for our exit, a womans touch with such a massive change.......oh & she is a Brexiteer, er, kinda helps, who knows it may even appease ol Merkel

Todays leadership launch nailed it. This is a leader who is flexible, but knows her mind. Just what we need to take the country forward.

Funny how all the news and latest betting odds are all falling in line with predictions made over a week ago about who would be next PM.

Everything is known in advance, to quote one of our old chums.

One thing is for sure in the current political climate and that is whoever's in pole position today is likely to be tomorrow's laggard.

Whilst I want to see Leadsom as the Brexit minister or, failing that, as Chancellor, I think being PM and taking charge of Brexit is too big an ask. It's too much for anyone, let alone for someone with relatively little ministerial experience. I say let Theresa May become PM and then Andrea Leadsom can devote all her time and energy to what will, inevitably, be difficult and all consuming Brexit talks. I don't believe one person can do both jobs simultaneously, not effectively anyway.
Tim.

Even if Leadsom doesn't make pm, she should be the lead in the negotiations team

Of course, it's always a risk plucking someone from relative obscurity.
On the other side of the coin though, May and her record in office, isn't actually that good.

I hear you c_v, but in the eyes of the Tories who will be casting their votes, Theresa May represents a safe pair of hands. If I was her, I'd make a point of saying that if elected as PM, I'll appoint Leadsom as Brexit minister. That kills two birds with one stone. All the brexiteers who don't want May because she voted to remain will be satisfied and all the people who would have voted for Leadsom no longer need to because they know she'll be leading the Brexit talks. And Leadsom herself will be happy too, for, if she does well in the Brexit role, that will put her in pole position for party leader as and when May steps down, or gets toppled or whatever. It's a no-brainer from May's point of view: my prediction is that she's saving this masterstroke for when the stallions have all been eliminated and it's just a two mare race.
Tim.

No one knows. Everyone is interested only in who is next. Few, in what is going on now! ie. to-day! ie.This morning! Who has the reins! Never mind what mare or stallion, it is!

David Cameron Split'. He's stepping down once a new PM is appointed. He hasn't just bu88ered off and said sod the lot of you I'm outa here! Go bash the knocker on No. 10 - I'm pretty certain he will answer.
:D

I was going to ask the same question - out of clarity is that the number of Brits living outside UK but in EU or expats worldwide :sneaky:

I think its 3 million Brits living in the EU ...
