Asian Coronavirus Outbreak

"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?
"So it'd be interesting to check that."
Pointing to his head, Mr Trump went on: "I'm not a doctor. But I'm, like, a person that has a good you-know-what."

I think he means a person with a good who-knows-what.

Let me just see if I can get this tidbit right ...

Sooo, a French Hospital innocently points out (from it's patient profile records) that smokers are less likely to become victims of corona virus. [ from the fact that statistically, significantly less smokers are testing positive for infection than non-smokers ]

This of course is a big no - no. It is not permitted to even hint that there might be some benefit to smoking, lol.

Thus the Governments' response was to immediately ban the online sale of nicotine products in case people might misguidedly desire to protect themselves from infection in this way.

You must, apparently, merely isolate yourself from the virus, not protect yourself from it !

One of my colleagues who suffers from asthma says his condition improved by smoking. Says when he stops smoking it gets worse.

Think I'd rather have asthma than a heart attack or lung cancer.

Smokers often report their respiratory issues worsen when they cease smoking. I have been told that this is because smoking suppresses the cillia and other protective mechanisms of the respiratory system. These "awake" when smoking stops, with the immediate (but temporary) effect that the respiratory system becomes highly irritated as it tries to cleanse itself of the noxious substances introduced by smoking.

Yeah, you might well be right.
And it probably has little or nothing to do with the likelihood that the toxins and noxious substances from smoking are just as lethal to the germs as they are to the smoker.
But nhaa, that's much too obvious to be any part of the reason.

Thought it may be something to do with that.

Have a few unhealthy old friends who I don't meet up with much. Recently, two of them both in there 40s apparently had the Covid-19 and awful breathing difficulties, one had went in to hospital. Both recovered. Another who smokes and is on the obese side is well and good apparently.

Not sure if there is a pattern here but I tend to not keep up with the unhealthy ones. LOL Nothing deliberate I think it's just the flow of life, I seem to socialise through sport and work.

I think this goes to show the Gubernment and the 'experts' they pay huge consulting fees too just haven't got a clue.

So, just to be absolutely clear, my understanding of Government Policy is:

'We have to wreck the economy, imprison the populace in their homes and burden future generations with debt because less people are dying than usual and this merits a draconian response.'

Anyone still doubt that the lunatics are running the asylum ?

😷

PS.
Do not mistake my posts as some form 'complaint' by the way. - As traders, I think that we are one of the groups who potentially stand to benefit the most from out of this madness, and as far as that continues to remain the case, the Government is most welcome to go stark raving bonkers and trash the economy completely.

😜

The economy will come through this crisis severely damaged but able to repair itself with the right stimuli.

Was there an alternative economic policy?

Is there a better government standing by to take over?

I suspect other economies, e.g. the French, and others with far more statist governments and ingrained public attitudes will emerge equally depressed but will take far longer to recover comparably.

The 'right' stimuli...which is what exactly? The stimuli that 'fixed' the 2008 crisis?

Albert Einstein had a definition for that kind of thinking...

The right stimuli won't be fully visible until the crisis is ending, but I suspect we won't be including nationalisation as a preferred option.

Anyway, I don't know what The Beatles' manager's got to do with it........

UK monetary policy has not been 'normalised' since the 2008 crisis, so it was not fixed, yet these people will know how to fix the next crisis, once it becomes clear...yep, makes sense!

Nice sunny day. Life goes on. Not much change my end but isolation with some minor forced changes in behaviour.

No reason why it should not change back to how it was before.

Too much drama imo. I reckon our polititions have totally over reacted. Watching Sweden.

No reason why we did not carry on as before taking particular care to isolate the elderly n vulnerable.

Policy now having g detrimental impact on greater number of people than the virus may have and consequences likely to last longer.
