Thanks, J :)

Well done, China !!!

If the opening ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics has to reflect local culture, I fear that it may be somewhat depressing, what with the high crime rate etc.
The UK also seems to lack the bright tradition/costumes etc that the Chinese, Greeks, Spanish, Japanese have displayed in recent times.

If I know you Brits you'll come up with a super show as well, probably something light and humorous. :)

Take it seriously, but play it lightly kind of thing, eh.

Dang but there are some pretty athletes in some of the teams marching in...

Don't get according to what alphabet they're marching in though, not the one I learned.

;-)

Vera L. ?

Had to go google her ;)

Probably. The 2002 commonwealth games ceremony was OK.

The 1991 world student games, anyone remember that? in sheffield, where the woman with the torch entered the stadium, dropped it, the flame went out, and she had to continue anyway, and pretend to light the thingy mi jig.....

What a disaster - symbolic of the WSG's legacy for Sheffield, a big compounding debt that exists 17 years later!

Of course. Young, fit athletes :p. As Jack Dee said, the olympic village must be one big none stop orgy, what with all those young fit athletes (with unusually high levels of hormones;)).

You bet !

FUNFUNFUN methinks.

:D

Just heard this, apparently 46% females in these games.

the ceremony was amazing, possibly the best opening ceremony since the first Olympics ever held!

The photo's you're posting BSD are incredible! I'm hunched at my desk squinting at screens when I should be in China ogling hot Chink Chicks in Skimpy Olympy outfits! Show us yer birds nest!

Still don't get according to what alphabet the national teams are marching in though...

How must that feel then, speaking in front of hundreds of millions of people watching now in the stadium and from all over the world in front of their TV's ;)

That sounds the first dissonant note in an otherwise fantastic, super opening, that uniformed soldiers are hoisting the Olympic flag ?!?

Yeah ;)

Hope this will be a seed that eventually leads to growth of more democracy.

I mean, Greece, Spain and Portugal were dictatorships not that long ago.

Did you see my China Girls I posted for you a page earlier.

Well, not mine, but OK.

Booked a flight over yet ?

:)

is the stiff breeze that is holding the Chinese flag aloft in the enclosed area of the stadium, coming out of some concealed fan in the flagpole?

Probably, good looking idea that.

WOW, the colours in the stadium, like a spaceship or sthg !!!
