Red ink all over Wall St. today.

I did manage to make a few bucks today but I was able to spend some time on my trip report to Disney which I hate doing so you know it was a boring trading day for me. With today only two days left in the month and I was hoping to be in the 3-4K range today for gains. I didn’t even come close but for nothing going on it was still a pretty good day.

I been watching BYD for a while and was really impressed with the company in relation to the price of the stock. I feel that while the company is in tough shape but not as bad as the stock price would suggest. With their attempted buying of part of the station casino it shows that management believes that adding on more would be a net positive. I put on a very small posistion but willing to add to it if the stock price shows weakness.

Short 10 BYD May 2.5 puts @ 20 cents each.

I scalped the SPY a small amount today and that went ok. + 169

RNT is a slow moving stock that provided the only real trading today. I didn’t make as much of a gain as I would have liked but as a non qual trade it was pretty good.

Having trouble deciding if I really want to pay so much to go to the Fleetwood Mac concert I decided to give myself a challenge.

Surprisingly (or maybe not as my wife knows I really like Stevie Nicks) my wife has not spoken against me going to the Fleetwood Mac concert even though it would cost a lot to go.

So the last few days I been struggling with wanting to go and not feeling so good about the costs. I spent a lot of time going over the tickets at different websites and I found what I wanted. Next thing was justifying the cost to myself. Perhaps this is a primary reason my wife doesn’t say much about what I spend money on as I never spend anything(very little actually) on myself.

Expecting to take a loss for the month of March I knew that I would have to make at least that much back. As a result of this mathmatical problem I cam up with a challenge to myself so that I could at least for a while stop thinking about if I should go or not.

I decided that if I could not make at least 10K in gains this week I would for sure not go. If I am able to make 10K for the week then I would give myself permission to go but I would still have to decide.

Its now Tuesday as I write this and Monday I did not pull my average needed of $2K for the day as I only made a bit over 1K. I have made some nice trades today so I am further along but Friday is still a long way off.

Market started out with a slight gain.

As it turns out I was not able to overcome the earlier losses this month. In a real way I do feel good about the month and how I was able to bring the account back up. The Quarter is ending nicely and I am happy about that.

I scalped AMLN at the open for a small amount. Was a fast trade that I entered into and immediately started to fall.

Next trade of the day was with SYNA. I started tracking it when my warning signal came alive with it and at first it did not appear that it would be tradable as it quickly fell after giving the warning. A while later it started to make its move upward and both of my over bought signals alarmed.

WPI came on my radar and it was screeming up and moving fast. I didn’t know at the time what the news was but knew there was news on it. It appeared to be a take over stock the way it moved up so fast. I did find out while in the trade short that the price jump was due to chatter that the company received a good court ruling. I treated this news as good to be short and proceeded to short more shares. I scalped some shares to get my average price higher and to lower risk so my profit level was not as high as it could have been. All in all a good trade.

Today started out about as uneventful as they come. With the spoos down and half of Asia down I surely did not expect much of a day today.

I did my standard scan of gapping up stocks and did find three that I was interested in. I ended up sca;;ing all three and was able to build some trading volume with a couple of them.

ASH GU, ended up trading this one all day long back and forth. Was able to get some volume with this even if the gain was not that big. + 511

About an hour into the trading day I noticed that the spoos turned positive and things started to look hopefull. I received my first trading signal with CREE and at first it moved right up to but did not cross the point that I would start to short it. After a short period of time it just touched my first offer and it was lifted making that one the HOD and then quickly moved back down about 10 cents. I was thinking that I might be at the HOD but I didn’t really get any shares off. It was able to make another fast move up and I was able to get a decent amount of shares short and it then moved straight down. it moved within two cents of my first bid to cover and then started to climb again. CREE finally fell and I was able to get a nice trade for the day.

First day into the BYD trade and thats already going well. both BYD and LVS are up today.

I knew today would be a crazy day with the market up yesterday and premarket up so strong.

Right out of the gate today started at a very fast pace. As can be seen by my what appears to be a never ending list of stocks I was busy. While I didn’t know how many trades I would be in at a time I did have a feeling that the day was going to be moving up in a strong manner so I was a lot more conservative with the trades than normal. This of course was a double edged sword as many trades would have made a LOT more money but I never ran out of buying power today either.

I had a couple that really ran against me and at least one that I should have taken the gain while the gain was really good but all in all it was a smooth day considering just how busy it was. My scanner had at times over 15 stocks that could be shorted at once and the list of total stocks during the day was over 50.

Much of this is written after the close and I would be lying if I said I remember even half these trades. At times I had as many as nine trades going at one time. Most of the day I had at least four or five. The ones I remember I exited early but there where many more. I also left a lot on the table as I was very conservative in many of the trades. So I wasn’t though and as fate would have it I ended up with smaller gains in almost all of them. I count about twenty different trades today which I think is a record for me. My Tradestation computer which I just recently updated with an Intel extreme solid state hard drive did have a slight issue right at the open but then it was smooth sailing for the rest of the day. Very impressed with the computer making it through the day without an issue.

I did turn off one of my setup alarms so that I could focus on the best setups.

While I do not keep track I don’t recall ever trading over 100K shares in a day before today so I guess I have a record number of shares as well. Not a big surprise with as many trades as I had.

Todays gains are the second best of the day of this year and my account is at or near an all time high. To top it off I even have a massage later today to work out some of the stress. Live is good.

I went into the office with high expectations as the SnP was up in premarket trading.

RIMM reported good earnings and was up over 20% in premarket trading. With less than five minutes before the opening bell I took a short trade with RIMM with a price of 61.07. within a minute of putting the trade on RIMM started falling and I was actually adjusting my bids to cover down and RIMM moved down so fast that my highest bid was hit before I could move it. I moved the rest of the shares down to just over 60 and within a short time at the open the bids where hit and I was out.

I have some appointments today so I will be leaving early today. I will miss about the last hour of trading. As I write this I have five trades going on and I leave in an hour and a half. Hope to have the trades closed out by the time I leave but not I will have my laptop with me and the sprint card which works pretty well.

I went to bed last night with high hopes for today as the SnP was about even and the Nas was up in late night trading.

Those hopes where erased pretty quickly when I woke up and saw that both were down by a large amount. Oh well off to work I go.

I get to my office and logged into the chat and started to scan the market for trades. At first I really didn’t see much and with low expectations I was pleased to see EAT moving into overbought territory in the opening minutes. I faded the move up and was able to make a respectable gain for the market being down so much.

I shorted PFG during the open and it worked out well.

I traded it back and forth and was too aggressive during the opening as I thought the stock would break and not keep going as far as it did. woke up early today to see how premarket in BBBY was doing.

I was pleased to see that it was down but at the same time I expected it to be down more. I would not have been surprised to see a dollar or more loss from the close yesterday. I was trading during very early morning about 40-50 cents lower.

I did manage to trade BBBY back and forth a while but when it gave me the chance to get out without getting hurt bad I took it. My cost basis was right near the 31 mark and I wanted to ensure that I would not allow the LOD to fade into history while I was still holding short. BBBY sure did take a byte out of the weekly gains but I guess if thats the worst thing that happened this week than all is not bad.

As the market was up so strongly I was given some trading opportunities and I traded several stocks. Overall it was a good day and no real big surprises as the day went along.

Tough day as I did not sleep well last night.

It was difficult to drag myself out of the bed and send myself to the office today. I also thought today might offer more than it did but for a nothing day I did ok. My biggest challenge today was probably staying awake.

NFLX fell out of bed and I guess it felt more tired than I did. With my naked 47.50 and 50 calls within sight of expiring it was a welcome sight. Once NFLX crossed below 46 I pulled my .05 bid for the 50s and decided to wait it out.

Started out as a good day

Came in this morning and just before the open I see that JAH is making a huge gap up in a very nice setup. while trading JAH I also get GPC at the open with a signal to trade.

Not really happy with my trading today. JAH offered me a nice gain and I let it go to get more. poorly traded all day. Other than JAH I thought it was a good day and my other trades were handled well. RYL and TIF refused to break down further before the bell so I am going to carry them into tomorrow with the thought that they will break within the first half of the day tomorrow.

Tomorrow is option experation day so things might get a little harry but I am looking forward to a good day. today was crazy as my radar screen lit up like a Christmas tree again. Makes me wonder if a shoe is going to drop and the dow drops 500+ points in a day…..
