Video Gaming and Day Trading

Do playing video games help make day traders better.

Playing Xbox, play station, etc do they make you think of trading as more of of a game.

Will it help take the psychology out of trading, make you sharper in taking positions, seeing charts patterns, reading market numbers, better at cutting loosers when wrong and taking winners to the full.

Or is it just hocus pocus and trading is just strictly a business?

Game Play or Business or both or none.

I play video games while waiting for trades to do their thing.

Multiple monitors rock.

People who play video games all day have an addicted brain. The more video games you play the more your brain turns to goo. So even while there might be some psychological aspects that would help in trading, the tradeoff to your brain chemistry is not worth it. You'll not become sharper by playing video games, not even games specifically made for that reason. They're all hogwash that began from the Nintendo DS fad of brain games. If you're not heavily addicted to video games then it's ok as a mere distraction.

An interesting distinction given that trading is the best computer game ever devised ;)
