Vertical line

Would anyone have any idea of how I could create an indicator in Metastock that would either put a vertical line (or otherwise mark the bar) a fixed number of bars backwards in time, so that the highlighted bar changed each day.

I could do this with Supercharts but haven't found a Metastock solution yet.

I could do this with Supercharts but haven't found a Metastock solution yet.

You can do this through the Expert Advisor: write the logic in the window on the "Trend" tab, the click on the "Ribbon" button, and mark the "Display Ribbon in Chart" , "Display Vertical Lines" and "Al inner windows" options.
To highlight the bar, go to the "Highlights" tab, click on the "New" button, then write the logic in the pop-up window.
Save the whole thing, and attach the Expert to your chart.
