Hello,
Can anyone help?
I would like to be able to scan (automatically)the daily and weekly prices of a large number of shares and have the software come up with a list of those that meet certain criteria - such as, ADX above 30. I would then like to be able to shift those shares easily into a separate folder, and then scan (manually) through the charts of those shares, looking at each one in turn, disgarding those I don't like the look of, until I'm left with a selected few.
I'm having problems doing this with Supercharts. Chartscanner keeps giving false readings, and I don't seem to be able to shift shares from the search result into a separate folder, or edit those in the 'results' folder.
I've tried Metastock. I run Explorer, but I can't figure out how to move all the shares that it returns into a separate folder that I can then scan quickly and edit while I'm doing so. Metastock, too, is giving false results.
With both Supercharts and Metastock, I use much the same formula, which is ADX(14)>30. However, in both cases, shares are being returned with ADX readings of well below 30, although the results claim more. The claimed results and the charts don't tally at all. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I've heard Amibroker is good for scanning and I've downloaded the trial version but I'm disheartened at the prospect of another 500+page manual to work through so haven't tried it yet!
I don't feel that what I'm trying to do is that complicated. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Nick
