Ukraine invasion

You are right so the status quo ante is Russia rebuliding Mariupol and resurrecting every civilian that died since Februarey 24th....
First Ukraine should start with paying pensions and salary since 2014 to Donbas people and resurrect all 14,000 civilians killed since 2014 in the Donbas region before such funny ideas can be discussed.

OMG you must be my twin.

I was going to say the same thing without the pension but thinking much the same. (y):)(y)

Hey At' & Histo',
Don't worry about the C_Vs - they'll come to their senses soon enough when the reality of what's actually going on hits home - as apposed to the fantasy they want to believe. Ukraine can't win the war without direct intervention by Nato forces - they know that - not least because we've explained why 100s of times! Inevitably, Russia is making progress, albeit slowly. One way we can be sure of that is because Ukraine is not newsworthy anymore. If Zelensky's forces were merrily knocking seven bells out of the Ruskies we'd hear of nothing else - morning, noon and night. We're not. Instead, it's back to Partygate, the Chelsea Flower Show and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations; quite colourful and refreshing really!
Tim.

This is why Russia can't possibly win.
Russian occupiers being militarily ground to a halt. Resistance growing from a population that has zero interest in being occupied and ruled by Russia.

It's the BBC, c_v. Remember them and how you feel about them?
No. Okay, here's a little reminder:
BBC just like all the rest. Fake News, Fake reporting. Impossible to believe anything they put out.
Just the same in the US. All totally corrupt."

You can't criticise them ceaselessly for six years and then suddenly believe every word they write. There's a word for that sort of behaviour!
:p

You are right everyone has is own fantasy, your was that Ukraine would not last more than 3 weeks.
Ukraine is neither asking for NATO intervention and neither a NFZ , it is not necessary anymore.

Why would it matter who's reporting it. Doesn't change the facts. Ukrainians have no intention of being run by Russia.

That is some fierce resistance.

If you look carefully at teh picture there is a girl on her scooter with daddy.

This was 13 March ...
But I was wrong too, Putin is proving to be more resilient than my predictions.
It will be a long game.
:)
Fair play CV, I was very wrong about that! And I agree with you that it'll be a long game. And what are the consequences of that? Three things:
1) Lots more needless and avoidable deaths on both sides.
2) Billions of $USD and £GBP wasted that could be better spent on just about anything. Literally almost anything else.
3) The possibility of the war escalating to become nuclear.

So, we can conclude that prolonging the war serves no one's interests other that the liberal elites who are running the show. Not you or me, not ordinary Russians and certainly not ordinary Ukrainians. Just the useless politicians who need a bogeyman to distract sheeple away from their failed policies, MSM so they can peddle more fear as fear is about the only thing that sells these days and, last but not least, the military industrial complex for whom the war is a gravy train. Have I missed anyone out?

The sooner the war stops the better and the only way that is going to happen is by negotiation. The idea that Ukrainian forces are going to chase the Ruskies out of the country without direct intervention from Nato forces is for the birds. It ain't gonna happen. Anyone who thinks that by throwing oodles of cash and out-of-date kit at Zelensky is enough to do the job is ill informed, naive and dangerous.

So while Russia is fekking about in Ukraine, the worlds poorest are facing starvation.

Yes, it's all the fault of that nasty man Putin. All we need to do is get rid of him and, abracadabra, the problems of the world will disappear instantly!

Income and wealth discrepancy is amongst the highest in the US and UK.
1% own about 90% of assets (I'm guessing here but happy to be proven wrong). Rich getting richer and poor poorer.
And now your bleeding heart is worried about World's population starving.
As a consequence of inflation, queues at foodbanks will surely increase this winter.

Heard some pensioner on LBC saying he can't afford it now and he goes to shop at supermarkets at closing time to pick up freebies and cheap items. He has learned that the supermarket workers, put the good stuff on top shelves and push'm to the back so they can pick'm up when they leave. Of course fwiw these foodback queues aren't new. Simply that I'm thinking they'll be considerably worse this winter.

Anyhow, when the West hijack and weaponised the financial payment system alongside loadsa sanctions on Russia that's ok.

When Russia as a consequence, makes some demands on payments for gas and oil in Rubles and takes over some food production from US control, she is weaponising energy and food.

You really can't be that naive to believe these labels can you?

Sooner or later you your self will get sick and tired of the hypocrisy of our shambolic bent corrupt governments as well.

Put down the daily trash and give it some real quality thought and see where your true heart takes you.

Now you know where sanctions are made for.
Breaking news. . .
Apparently, Putin's been on the hotline to 10 Downing St. and the White House asking the west to impose yet more sanctions. More the merrier, he's absolutely lovin' 'em . . .

In the Same Week as His “Brutal Invasion” Gaffe, Bush Falls Victim to Russian Pranksters
As always, the btl comments are worth reading. Note the one from 'Mark' to a poster suggesting that probably the least painful way to end the conflict is for someone to put some lead between Putin’s ears.

Mark's reply. . .
"The fact that you think that replacing Putin would “end the conflict” merely reflects the degree to which you have bought into the childish propaganda that personalises (as always) the issues so as to try to make US rivals seem irrational. The fact that the economic “shock and awe” attempt has failed so utterly, and that the Russians are slowly but surely winning the war on the ground, means that time is on the side of the Russians and the war will end when they achieve their goals, and not before.

The likelihood is that a replacement for Putin would be from the school of Russian thought that sees Putin as too soft on “the west”, especially if it resulted from an assassination that was attributed to US sphere agents.

The only positive effect from such a change of leader in Russia would probably be the opportunity it would provide for some in the US sphere to climb down from their literally stupid, dogmatic “Assad Putin must go” positions, and make the necessary compromises."

Spot on Mark. Excluding nuclear war (please god), there are only two ways this conflict will end:
1) When Putin achieves his objectives and says it's over.
2) When the west and Zelensky agree to compromise at the negotiating table.
Tim.
