Ukraine invasion

Well I certainly wouldn't attack the neighbour, nor kill the dogs and invade the garden. That would be a massive over-reaction.

There are always reasons for things. But those won't change the facts. Russia rolled tanks into Ukraine. Not the other way around. Ukraine is not a member of NATO.

3 years of Russia being the aggressor and still you don't see it.

So carry on blaming the West for a proxy war and give Russia a free pass while people die in Ukraine?

It is indeed a very difficult situation. Confrontation is never good but sometimes necessary.

You are right, I wouldn't start by attacking my neighbour however, as the Russians did I would offer my strongest objections along with an altimatum.

1. He needs to get rid of those dogs
2. If he doesn't within a set period of time I will
3. In the meantime if anything happens to my tribe - I will not only kill the dogs but go for his jagular vein too as I will hold him accountable and responsible
4. If the council / police (aka US and EU) don't respond to my concerns I will take matters to my own hand
5. If anything did happen to my kids tribe, I would absolutely HATE my self with cowardly loathing for not done anything and stood by living in fear or move away, which would be retreat

If you don't stand up to bully boys (aka cowboys and those who stand behind them, egging them on aka EU) then they will rough shod over ones ass.

And in fact this is what has happened. I don't see Russia as the aggressor but a situation which has been manipulated and orchestrated, planned way in advance with Zelensky the puppet with uncle Sam's hand up his arse.

I have never seen Zelensky as a smart guy or a politician. He can't even speak without a script in his hand. He is simply a numpty filling his pockets. He is the richest comedian on the Earth. You have to ask how has he earned all that wealth to afford properties all over the place.

I think Ukrainian war is pretty clear but Joe Public is simply fed high dosages of propoganda. Whilst trumpeting free speech they have shut down RTNews and Al-Jazeera. US is throwing students out who protest against Israel genocide of Palestinians. Unbelievable acts of cruetly are executed by the West.

People are slowly waking up to these and realising the news is not really news but simply the story they dish out and what they want you to think.

A lot of posters from the old days have gone. Wonder what happened to them: DBPhoenix, Socrates, Mr Marcus, theBramble, the Hare, trader dante, Lord Flashheart.

I remember them too. They were all great. I think T2W went a little too prudish and shyed away from the brave new world.

I'm surprised I'm still here despite my colourful opinions and language. 🤭

Tim has done much to modify my speech and diplomatically put me on the good path. 👍

So I'd hazard a guess, you are a possible re-incarnation of a previous member then? Go on tell us who? Ah go on...

Or maybe just keep a closer eye on your children and don't let them get near the dogs. I am a dog person, they always seem to like me, so I am not quite as afraid as you of them. I don't think I like pitbulls or rottweilers too much though.

If I bought a pet, and my neighbour killed that pet, it would be clear in law and in most people's eyes who is in the wrong.

I haven't followed Zelensky's wealth or where it comes from. But as I have mentioned before, politicians are often corrupt. I am quite confident that Trump has made many millions from his second stint in office and seems to be allowed to manipulate the market unpunished. It is quite disgraceful that my stop got hit because Trump woke up and put a Tweet out. That's just not cricket 🙂

I am an old member yes. But not quite as notable as the ones I mentioned.

I should add, I was never banned. I just left and returned.

There isn't a lot of good trading content right now.

Keep a closer eye on my children??? You mean don't let them play in the garden? Restrict hours of play? Live in fear! Depending on where one lives and who ones neighbours are, will ultimately have an impact on ones behaviour and conduct.

I have to strongly disagree. If the law doesn't protect you then it's not much of a law to live by is it?

I too am a dog person and used to have one called Atilla. We are thinking of getting another soon but might move first so it's sort of on hold at the moment. We have neighbours cats that come visit us. One of them loves sleeping in/on the second book shelf in a small confined section which we now leave free for him. No idea who's cat it is. We basically said hello was nice to it when we first saw it and now it just wonders over and if the door is open it comes in for a snooze.

I consolidated my pensions into a SIPP which I manage and now retired. Life is a peach. 👍 I wonder how I ever managed to work 5d a week. So bizi bizi enjoying freedom and life... 🙂

Enjoy the retirement buddy, I am sure it is well deserved 🙂

On the neighbours thing, this might not make a lot of sense to you, but I have a very sensitive 'nose' let's say. Living in an apartment block, I have a neighbour who cooks indian food all throughout the day. Not just dinner time, from early morning. The pungent smell is huge and all throughout the floor, most people are not affected, but I am. It has made me throw up multiple times. That's how sensitive I am. I don't enjoy that obviously. But there is nothing I can do about this.

Thanks and what you say is very sad. I can imagine too as I have some intollerances too like people playing with keys, people clicking pens and noise.

Talking of curry food, we were looking for a place to buy back in 2001 and checked out Ilford what is called the Common Wealth estate. OMG, the smell of curry was all along the streets. Quickly got scratched off our list of places to search. We then moved to Barkingside near Hainault Forest, which turned out to be a lovely area.

I can only imagine your plight. Have you kindly spoken to them to ask if they can do anything about the smell? Also, check with your local council? There is nothing wrong in raising it imo. Maybe get a petition going. I don't mind curry maybe once a every couple of months or so but to have it all day everyday is excessive. 😱

It is partly on me, because I have that over-reaction. But I can't help that, vomiting is a reflex, and no, you can't tell a neighbour what they can and can't cook. It isn't that I dislike Indian food at all, it is just that waking up in the morning before work and getting overwhelmed in the senses is a bit too much for me. I am too sensitive perhaps. I don't think many people will understand that others can be affected in these ways.

I will try to bring it back on topic and not my life...there are a lot of things you have to put up with from neighbours. As discussed we can't kill the neighbours or the dogs because we wouldn't want to.

Russia is a nasty neighbour.

Train sabotage in Russia was Ukrainian ‘terrorist attack’ – Moscow

Russia is a nasty neighbour.

So is Ukraine towards Russia wanting to join NATO and place nuclear weapons on her borders. Ukraine is a nasty neighbour to have with bad intentions.

As before there is the option of being Neutral like Switzerland, thus not participating in wars and joining the EU and then there is joining NATO and participating in wars.

I find it incredelous that any leader would choose war...

I also agree with Tim that I prefer to have balance of power rather than aggressive NATO and domineering US starting and fighting wars all over the place. 🙏

Ukraine is not a member of NATO. Ukraine voluntarily gave up the nuclear weapons it had in its country. Ukraine was previously attacked years ago and Crimea seized from them. Ukraine did not invade, but was invaded again recently. Sounds like their neighbour is much worse than Ukraine.

I think they gave them up several years later than that and voluntarily (i.e. they didn't lose them by force)
That's right, they were not forced to do it, it was part of the necessary actions from the signed documents.
And remember, the Tschernobyl accident happened in 1986 - nearly 8 years before - in Ukraine.

"When Ukrainian-Russian negotiations on removing these weapons from Ukraine appeared to break down in September 1993, the U.S. government engaged in a trilateral process with Ukraine and Russia. The result was the Trilateral Statement, signed in January 1994, under which Ukraine agreed to transfer the nuclear warheads to Russia for elimination. In return, Ukraine received security assurances from the United States, Russia and Britain; compensation for the economic value of the highly-enriched uranium in the warheads (which could be blended down and converted into fuel for nuclear reactors); and assistance from the United States in dismantling the missiles, missile silos, bombers and nuclear infrastructure on its territory."

Let's remember that Russia is doing what it's doing because it faces an existential threat. I think some posters don't want to accept that.
😉
If you think that RT, I recommend you go back through the thread and read, listen and watch the vast quantity of evidence that proves the contrary. Even our own shadow PM has admitted as recently as a week ago on Sunday in an interview with Trevor Phillips on Sky News that this is a proxy war by the west against Russia!!!
😎
How would you feel if your next door neighbour - that you weren't getting along with, placed some American Pitt Bulls in their garden?

Would you wait for one of your children or grand children got attacked before you reacted?

NATO expansion that aggressively expanding so called defensive alliance is the real aggressor here.

If you went to your local council to complain and they said to you don't be silly your neighbour is entitled to do what they liked in their own borders would that pacify your worries or concerns.

You are not being realistic if you forgive me for pointing it out bluntly.

As before if the shoe was on the other foot, why did Kennedy threaten to attack Cuba if it ever hosted Warsaw pact weapons?

US and EU knew exactly what they were doing buying out Zelensky and pushing NATO to Russia's borders. Contrary to assurances given to Gorbachov.

Ukraine’s role in the Soviet nuclear arsenal and its implications for the West during the Soviet era stemmed from its geographic and strategic position within the USSR. While Ukraine hosted significant nuclear infrastructure and weapons, operational control remained exclusively with Moscow, meaning the threat to the West was part of broader Soviet military strategy rather than an independent Ukrainian capability.

Ukraine’s Nuclear Disarmament and Perceptions of Betrayal

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine inherited the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal - operational control remained exclusively with Moscow -including thousands of warheads and delivery systems48. In 1994, Ukraine agreed to relinquish these nuclear weapons, signing the Budapest Memorandum alongside the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia.
  • In exchange, these powers pledged to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence, and to refrain from the threat or use of force against Ukraine214.
Was Ukraine Betrayed?
Many Ukrainians and international observers now view the subsequent actions—especially Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the full-scale invasion in 2022—as a betrayal of those security assurances247. The Budapest Memorandum was not a legally binding treaty but rather a political commitment, lacking enforcement mechanisms5. This distinction is crucial: while the memorandum provided “assurances,” it did not constitute a binding security guarantee, and the West was not legally obligated to intervene militarily on Ukraine’s behalf5.

That's complete nonsense as they want to make people believe now.

The arms always belonged to Russia as Russia was the successor of the USSR. Russia paid the dept of the USSR as it was seen as the successor, Ukraine did not.
The owner of the weapons was always Russia, Ukraine had no rights on them.

That was a general problem of the resolution of the USSR that a lot of things were not cleared related to the ownership of a lot of stuff.

More details to the history is written here:

There is much distortion of truth and writing of history from West perspective and viewpoint.

Western people are only just waking up to all the manipulation and propoganda which goes on.

Stuff that presents an alternative narrative view point is said to be propoganda and banned like RTNews and Al-Jazeera amongst others.

What with the Guantanomo bay and Gaza attrocities it is clear the so called Western countries are quite at liberty to tear up even their own rules and protections like the Geneva conventions and apply their own version of cruel and very barbarian conduct on the rest of humanity.

Western double standards and version of events is quite sickening. 🤢
