The taste of a future Labour government?

Brighton and Hove is a Labour controlled council:

Council bosses could evict beach hut owners unless agree to tax rise

You two really getting desperate.

Brighton super place to live, affluent and well managed yes. Greens play a big part down here as well.

Cheers for promoting our part of the World and decent Labour council policies

Future Labour government besides other things :whistling

Never gonna happen. The overriding issue for the foreseeable future is Brexit. Given that Corbynista has no agreement within his own party, then the chances of them getting elected are close to zero.

You maybe right???

What with JRM, Leadsome, Gove and Boris pillars of the Tory party how can they possibly lose?

Some good contributions in that debate.

Particularly the references to the HOL being a shining example of how a care home should be run !

Also, the debate touched on the £300 a day TAX FREE attendance allowance where members can sign in and sign out then legitimately claim their expenses. One way to stop this abuse would be to fit the Lords with TRACKERS, so we could monitor who is doing a days work and who is a slacker.

For anyone interested...the committee voted for abolition. So lets see what transpires.

Abolishing The Lords to my mind is yet another nail in the traditional British coffin by the losers out of envy.
They have been the bedrock of all the good things about British decency. A much valued institution in a world currently obsessed with money and power thanks to Trump etc. Such important qualities of life as decency, honesty and fair play for all are very important and should be preserved.

There are plenty of banana republics and dictatorships run by the world's low life already without letting British standards slip into the filth.

Too late, we may not have reached banana republic stage yet, dictatorship is debatable (not by the Lords) [emoji18], standards were in the gutter a long time ago.

We are no longer a shining example to the rest of the world, those that still look to us for that are probably realising this.

It’s as much as a result of globalisation and political correctness and more recently migration as much as individual or collective corruption. Human rights has taken a back seat or is favoured for one section of society over another. The public is routinely lied to and there are cover ups and scandals galore.

No transparency=no faith in the state=no democracy=more totalitarianism=dictatorship.

May is so keen on spending the defence budget on the EU unification program and wasting it on the NHS, there’s nothing left to defend the country [emoji849]

She would love a fudged result with the UK half in.
A shame if the EU idiots chuck us out of security ( we provide the majority of warnings of impending terrorist attacks ) and the joint science.
Yes our ex partners will make us pay for leaving their fetid ranks.

I agree, and military unification is one of those items that would do just this, except the govt have managed to keep it under the radar (out of MSM), so far.

I said this about the Galileo programme on the Brexit thread, you can imagine the number of other joint projects we will have in the security, defence and intelligence areas as a result of military unification. Apart from the tech and expertise, there is a matter of trust between nation states that needs to be maintained.

Yes our ex partners will make us pay for leaving their fetid ranks.

It's easy to do in the commercial areas where there is competition, double crossing and no allegiances, after all that's just business as usual. It's not so easy to do in matters of constitution and sovereignty, assuming we do actually leave the ECJ and very difficult to do in the military sphere where dependencies on UK expertise actually exist.

Listening in to the Beeb I see the gurus are putting forward Javid as the next Tory PM !

Well I never ???

In our modern era, it is daft to think UK will go to war with any country on a 1 to 1 fight. Alliances will ultimately be set.

Once again last war with Argentina we had French help whilst the yanks declined us satellite Intel. Nimrod was called back to duty.

Debate on EU and military cooperation is only a logical evolutionary step. To imagine we go to war with our European allies is just beyond daft but absolutely bloody stupid. I certainly wouldn't trust the Yanks. They'll only be looking at what they can screw us over for. What's in it for Trump?

As for the state of UK politics, it is a Mexican stand-off. Both sides know its so close Corbyn can actually win this. Otherwise weasel torry rebels would have made it happen. What they are thinking about is what TM experienced, loss of seats when Cameron had won a reasonable majority.

Another arrogant call for elections and the rightful party; Labour or perhaps Labour & LibDems can reign control of Parliament and restore some sanity to governing the nation instead of tearing it apart.

wrt Galileo project it is a must participate project, incorporating future military and consumer technologies. To think UK doesn't need to or can deliver a similar program on her own is another daft idea.

Once again its back to hope and glory tosh. Close our eyes and wish we can really do this if we try hard enough. Rock on Brexiteers.:LOL::LOL:
