The middle of the day has become awfully quiet on the U.S. stock market, as index funds and computer models push the action toward the end of the trading day.

I concur with this finding as I like to do trading around the end of the day.

well i dont think any trader will personally like all what happened yet what will gonna happen, it's unfortunate really market did came a long way but lately its been bad my friend !!

well, let me put it this way : the economy buble, the removing of chf floor, brokers manipulation, low regulation, the danger of eur that they claiming it will recover, governments and political issues around the globe .

i know i did made it like its the end of the world when its isnt but it's unfortunate to see what we see nowadays, to be quite honest with you trading is not safe as its used to be a trader must be 10x taking a great care with trades, God only knows what will crashes next .

the only way to keep the game going is to take great care with your trades & planning .

What do you trade and do you hold the position overnight?

What do you trade and do you hold the position overnight?

I trade equities in the NYSE mainly, but also NASDAQ, NYSEARCA, NYSEMKT in the US. The only forex I do is for purchasing currency to trade in the NASDAQ OMX Nordic, LSE, TSE & ASX. I couldn't tell you any one stock that is good because my api doesn't incorporate news or pay any regard to what sector it is in. It begins scanning the all equities above a certain share price and average volume right before the market closes whereby it predicts which stocks will be good to buy tomorrow based upon what the close will most likely be for that day. It is that reason why my trades are executed near the end.

To answer your second question, I sometimes hold it overnight it doesn't sell before the after hours market closes. My computer places a MOC or just before and sometimes it even sells before the close or during the after market.

I also tend to avoid stocks that pay dividends because they are too problematic as far as daytrading is concerned.

I know old guys who have been trading imbalances for years before HFT was introduced. It's nothing new.

Alright so what's the point about the HFT? Anyway, do whatever works. It works for me. Just because it isn't new, doesn't mean it doesn't work.

Just out of curiosity, why would you worry about overnight holdings? Do you trade equities internationally?
