Are you going to revise your number now, Marvin? :)

I do not know whether the 5280 target is too bearish. I am tempted to sell the FTSE at some point around here! Anyone have any opinions? Current price 5850 on the cash - i am looking for some profit taking just below 6000. Alot of traders pre-2006 were talking of a strong start then some profit taking towards the start of the 3Qtr. But to be honest alot of clients i talk to are not willing to go short yet, with all the M&A activity going on! Is it all hot air or not? Are we due for a sharp pullback soon?

I do agree that there should probably be a pull back to shake out doubters before the FTSE can break the 6000 mark.

Well at the moment the markets still seem very strong. Mining stocks and oil stocks seem to be holding the FTSE up today! This has also been a major support for the markets over the past year. In answer to your question the revised level will be a hold until a real sign of the bull market ending. Which is, i do not know......

You know that I missed out the chance to go long the FTSE when it broke the 5810 mark. I may have to wait for a pull back to get on again.

People are saying mining and oil and gas stocks are masking the weaknesses of other sectors. I'll see what kind of reaction to the banking sectors during this reporting season.

Markets are always there! Trades are always there!

Sir Francis - If you think this will be the case you can back your view.
Here goes strangle the 6025 and 6225 call spread! write the 6225 FTSE dec Call at 118 and go long the 6025 FTSE dec Call at 205. You are paying away a little but if you get it spot on could be fruitful.
