hmm, well its a big family and fair play for those fortunate enough to come to the u.k. im in a small village and can hear bag pipes on occassion on a summers eve when the local pipers blow their bags so to speak, but i have to report, the influx of polish to the area has been noticeable, ie we get regular callers trying to hawk items at the door for the past 18 months or so....... the local dentists now recruited also polish.... daughters come in from a saturday night out saying they let us eat their chinese ,they rent that house at the bottom of our garden .... they are from poland etc.....
Im ok with it but the recent surge in this small rural coastal position highlights the desire for our fellow euro brothers and sisters to set up shop in blighty....
now we have friends who are buggering off to bulgaria funny enough..... cheap everything apparently....

Here in Cornwall some villages are ghost towns in winter due to second home owners. Now the Govt/housebuilders are building on green areas and traffic frequently gridlocked that one feels that one is being pushed into the sea. We have Polish agricultural workers but they are not a problem. However, the disappearing green belt, increasing traffic, litter, rising crime,unaffordable housing, second homes/decaying village life - is.
Plus my wifes' sciatica etc seems to play up in a damp climate yet is fine in the Dordogne. Therefore, I am researching the costs and benefits of moving to France

I think the Poles are a good thing and will boost the economy. Out of the 600,000 who have turned up recently only 650 are receiving any state benefits. If you want to know what's really happening in Britain read the Daily Mail - then have a good laugh while you tear it into strips.
But before I become one of the ranks of the resented wrinklies drowing in dribble in a care home I hear that Italy is the new France as far as quitting GB. They actually respect the oldies there....
Good programe the other night on telly by the ex CBI boss re Polish workers. I was amazed that a Polish worker here can earn 4 times what they would in Poland - and that is not even on a like for like job bases ie Teacher to factory worker. They're good builders too apparently - it's the way they were taught.
Maybe one should think about retiring in Poland as one could afford to live 4 times as long!
