The cabinet housing the satellite decoder, the VCR and Freeview isn't also big enough for both CD player and an amp.
The amp is also used for my tape deck and 'record player' as well as the CD player , all of which are in a different cabinet, so must remain there.

You may have got it. The Cd may not contain a pre amp etc.
I have hooked it all up with a headphone jack from the amp wired into a scart to scart and that works.
so looks like I am dead in the water ?
