If you want to do it like the pro's get X-Trader Pro and use the sim function on that, it is however very expensive. The software also has an auto spreader which is useful for not getting caught out doing indivdual legs.
If you want a good charting system that can help you with spreads... go to www.trackntrade.com It will save you a ton of money, its all end-of-day data & you get a 30-day free trial. The spread plug-in is extra, as is the accounting & options plug-ins, but these are the most useful. Its a great program for doing research into calendar spreads.
With this software you can paper-trade using the accounting plug-in.
