This current recession which may turn into a slump should be an ideal time for the quick witted to make mega bucks.
The property market especially farmland may well be a good opportunity while prices are low

I don't think anyone is talking about a slump and as for mega bucks you could also lose mega bucks by trying to pick a bottom.

I'm buying up shares in the crystal ball manufacturing and also the time machine construction industries. I have a feeling there will be a big demand in both areas.

Err ya very funny guys BUT you will be wishing you saw the opportunities offered. Warren Buffet is no fool and he is nibbling away at some blue chip companies.

I would hate to be 3 years down the line and not having made some money on this " crisis ". Cash rich companies with an energetic and talented CEO are worth considering.

The strong will prosper no doubt about it

I mentioned Autonomy Ltd. a month ago and their share price doubled.

Mark Mobius is buying up shares in China etc. H e sees continuing growth irrespective of the clapped out old economies.

imho land and property are the WORST investments you could possibly make right now.

Unless you are a trader I would recommend cash for the moment.

I read somewhere that Sir Alan Sugar just bought 4% of Woolworths shares recently.

Still, bottom picking is not for me. All these rich and famous people we see who are buying land, investments, shares, etc, all have the ability to weather a large drawdown. I don't. They probably have made a good call, long term though.

Why don't you remortgage your house and put the funds 100% into equities. This time next year you'll be a millionaire!

If by some mischance it doesn't happen that way I would hate to live under a hedge somewhere, but many a true word is said in jest

That got me thinking. In this country, it isn't so bad. What's the worst that could happen? You end up in housing association accommodation with your council tax, food and bills paid for by the tax payer. The upside is untold riches and hero status on many trading forums.

:devilish: DO IT!

I am entitled to 20% of any profits from that idea - check the small print.

Could you really do that? When my mate was unemployed, he refused to claim any sort of benefits. He said that if he had done so, he'd have been unable to look at himself in the mirror.

I couldn't. I have been unemployed but claimed nothing.

Other ideas might include the financial vultures e.g.
pawnbrokers
bankruptcy co.s
debt collectors

others
booze/fag sellers
chocolate makers
drug makers
