Does anyone have a decent chair to recommend? The gas lift has failed on mine. Lasted all of one year(n)

Ideally I would like a very high backed jobbie. What I currently have is classed as high backed, but only touches the base of my neck at it's tallest point. I'd like something to lounge back and rest my head on.

Willing to spend decent money.

. . . I'd look at these too: RH Chairs

Not cheap, but if you're in your office all day sitting on your ar$e - it's probably worth forking out the dosh!

Thanks, I'll have a look. On a quick scan the 'classic' looks like it would suit my needs just fine.

I'm guessing they're about a grand? That does make me balk a touch, but it's also a write off of course. 10 year guarantee is good. I would have to try one out first if it's that kind of money.

I would love to buy British. But do we make any decent chairs?

It will be worth the investment. Quite a few of the pro traders I know complain of neck/back ache. Personally I have neck issues that flair up every now and again, and I have no doubt that 15 years in front of the screens has caused it. This is going to happen more and more as peoples lifestyles become more sedate. Good posture and a decent chair is a must or you will pay for it down the line in pain and medical bills. I write this slouched back and to one side rofl.

Its got to be the Hawaii chair,
for those days when the market isn't moving... to keep you awake.

Think I'll go with an ebay cheapie until I can decide on which better quality chair to go with, it's a bit of a headache finding one tbh. The more you look the wider choice you find, the more confusion......

Hi YANF,
I'd suggest making a point of going to a specialist shop or a large department store where you can actually sit in some chairs. Take a book or Kindle with you so you can spend a good 10 - 15 minutes in each of the likely candidates. In your shoes, I'd be tempted to go with the Aeron recommended by JonL as it's a design classic - but it would be a shame to spend £1k on one to find that it's uncomfortable and not suitable for the shape of your posterior or your preferred sitting position. Therefore, IMO, ar$e 'n seat contact time is what's needed to get to the bottom of the problem!

That was a cheeky play on words Tim. You're right a need to be comfortable, don't want any back issues to rear their head(y)

That may well be the best option though (visiting a shop). I do tend to forget that they sell most things in the 'real' world too!
