offered job - no basic once your earning ok commision

Hi I have been offered a job, has a basic to start, then it is dropped when you are 'earing decent commision'. Is this standard practise in broker houses? I am qualified but dont have experience.

is it a broking job? if so then it is fairly common. the lower your salary the lower your breakeven before bonus distribution. a very successful broker will want the lowest salary possible.
