Hi everyone...stumbled across your forum the other night and read many an interesting post...figured it was time to post something myself...

I'm new to the trading game...started off about a month ago with some fixed odds bets and have been placing all of my bets from 3 monthly subscription systems which I found online. Out of around 30 bets now I've only lost 3 and am around 25% in profit. The problem with fixed odds seems to be that for every bet lost it takes around 3 bets to recover the loss. I realise I've probably been lucky so far in only losing only 3 bets but by sticking to the systems it does seem like a steady profit is achievable.

So...at the start of this week I decided to have a go at some spread betting. Again, I signed up for two monthly subscription systems...one for FOREX and the other a Daily Dow signals service. The FOREX system seems somewhat sporadic with its results so far but I've only been betting 10p/pip with this so no real risk. The DOW system seems to be very good and so far every day's recommendation has resulted in me taking a profit (at least 45 points)...BUT here is the PROBLEM: whenever I see a bet close and a profit taken I have an overwhelming urge to place another bet with my own crazy prediction of what the DOW will do next!!! Needless to say my predictions are based on nothing but dreams and usually result in me losing the profit I'd taken 5 minutes earlier! Anyone else having this problem???! It's strange as I didn't have this issue with the fixed odds bets...something about the IG Index interface that seems to lure me in!!! :)

LOL!

Discipline is I believe rule 1 in the game.

If the systems work, just use them!

Stuart, sound advice me thinks. At the end of wk 1 on my spread account I'm now 10% in profit...had I stuck to the systems that would be close to 20%! :)

Eye!

Just imagine if you can do 10% per week every week, the beauty of compound would give staggering returns

Hmmm...with a £1000 pot that would equate to over £150k in a year! Well, I guess a consistant 10% a week is somewhat unrealistic but resisting my temptations would be a good start!
