MP3 and wave file software

Hi

can anyone recommend freeware MP3-wave conversion and wave file editor freeware software that will not affect other applications on my PC?
I have tried Audacity, MPEG Suite and dbpoweramp and they seem to have affected Internet Explorer.

I use dBPowerAmp and it has not played with my IE. Check the dBPA settings.

Go to www.radified.com and read the guide on ripping CDs. It recommends Exact Audio Copy and LAME. Both Free. I followed the guide and am listening to the results now.

when you used audacity had you added lame_enc.dll for the mp3 convert?

Have just got Nero 6, record now and winmx - all seem top drawer and work fine!
