I've written 4 routines to guage Market sentiment. I hope it will turn out to be a useful set of EDS routines. I'm also tracking the results on a daily basis in Excel.
Basically the indicators are:
The number of stocks that have risen by more than 5% today.
The number of stocks that have fallen by more than 5% today.
The number of stocks that closed within 1% of today's high.
The number of stocks that closed within 1% of today's low.
The routines can be found by looking under "system Trading" and then "EDS"

An interesting idea. Have you tried deducting the no of stocks within 1% of the days low from the non of stocks within 1% of the days low and plotting as a spread indicator? Might show short term market turns.
