Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting free (hopefully) stock quotes that I can use in an application I'm building ?
I want to build an application that monitors any stocks, indices you like or have interest in, instead of having to keep looking at the charts all day long.
There's an application called eTikr, which does this in Excel, but seems to be limited and can't get it to run all the quotes I need.
The application will run in the background on a pc, when a desired price is hit it'll display a message on the screen.
Is there a website url I can call with an extra parameter for the instrument I need a price for ?
Am I in the right direction ? Is there something out there that already does this (free) ?
At the moment, I want to be able to:
1. Select stock, indices, commodity, currency …
2. Set a price to alert me if its crossed ..
I could go as far as adding sma, ema, williams %R which are easily calculated.
If I can build this I'll share it out to all if anyone interested ?
I know I can subscribe to something, but at the moment I want to see if I can create this free.
