Any one currently subscribed to an audio news service?
which one?
whats it like?

RANsquawk are good

TradeTheNews were pretty good when I trialled them last year.

heard mixed reports on sigma squawk recently, but have never listened to them myself so cannot comment from direct experience.

Im currently using sigma now. The man sounds like a pub dj, he really does make me laugh. Is trade the news an american or english person behind the squawk? I think there alot cheaper also sigma charge £250 plus vat a month. I believe there fast but wont really know untill i have someone to compare them with.

Used to have a live voice feed from the S+P futures pit once. Was hideously expensive but worth it just to hear the fastest talking guys in the world. Sounded like a commentary from the 3:30 at chepstow. Unreal.

So did listening to the noise give you any advntage on the market?

lol, yeah, thats sorta what I'd been told - Batesy and his "gewd mawning, gewd mawning laydeez and gentz..." comedy commentary.

RAN are a similar sort of cost. TTN was around $200 per month, but what I thought was pretty good about them was that they had multiple channels that you can select some or all of - so if you're only trading fixed income, you dont have to listen to all the stoxx, equities related commentary etc. unless you want to.

I think TTN runs a trial period anyway so check them out if thats the sort of thing you're looking for.

lol you aint herd the half of it
this afternoon he said " the american markets is aboout to open ladies nd gents so tighten your seat belts and get ready for the ride" And he changes the pitch of his voice whenhe makes anouncments lol he's well funny

Sigma Squawk offer a 4 week free trial of the radio commentary as well as sending out research e-mails. Only ever heard good things and I know he covers quite a few offices in London and abroad so traders must like his pub DJ style

"And the FTSE is up 3 points. Will the owner of the red Mondeo in the far end of the car park please move it as it is blocking someone in."

My name is Matthew Cheung I am one of the directors of RANsquawk. Just saw this thread and would like to say that we offer free trials to anyone of our 4 channels -stocks, bonds, FX or gold (all three).

We also provide morning sheets which go out before the bund, short sterling, and equities opens. We update our website through out the day with all the relevant and important data releases, speakers, rumours etc..

We will be launching an energy channel in the next few weeks which will be run by an experienced oil analyst. We already provide an energy rundown ahead of the NYMEX pit open.

We also provide technical sheets written by Shaun Downey (global head of technical analysis at CQG) on bonds/stirs (bund, bobl, schatz, UST, gilt, Euribor, Short Sterling, Eurodollar), stocks (dax, cac, eurostoxx, smi, ftse, s&P, nasdaq, dj) FX (all major pairs and crosses) and NYMEX crude and gold.

Please contact RANsquawk on [email protected] or +44 (0)20 7664 4321 for a free trial.

We DONT sound like a pub DJ....

Many thanks

Matthew Cheung

I've had a trial of SquawkBox (S&P commentary). The background conversations one picks up are most fascinating, albeit pretty banal - football, best Chicago neighbourhoods (Southside), Bernanke ("Benny and the Jets"). Feels like eavesdroppping. Reckon someone said some things in confidence without realising a global audience.

One guy I heard everday sounded like a character from a 70's Shaft movie; but he was so cheerful - always laughing and joking, always cheered me up. He'd give instructions re positions/ exposure.

Grant.

Pub DJ or racing commentator?

Any chance of posting an audio file?

I've done my quota of free trials this year I'm afraid.

Thanks

I recently discovered the ransquawk site then it stopped working.
What happened? Anybody know? :-0

Yes, the site's still there but there's no audio and the weekly calendar is out of date.

Speaking of calendars, the T2W one is not what it used to be either. It claims to be updated in real time (and it used to be) but now it sometimes isn't updated at all e.g. yesterday. The time zone has changed and I can't set it back to GMT. Daily view no longer works.

are you a subscriber? I think these features are only available to free-triallers or paying subscribers?

No, I'm not a paying subscriber, I use the free service which is delayed by about 30 seconds.

.....stop press.......

I just had a reply from them:

The retail servers are down for repairs at the moment. We do have a pro version available if you would like.

Thanks

Anthony
