I keep detecting this in sweeps! How is this thing regularly popping up?
I now make a point of not using cards etc online but cut and paste from calculator. This virus must be living on my system somewhere or sent daily??

I use Avira's free AntiVir Personal Edition which works very well: http://www.free-av.com

Most help sites want to see your HijackThis log; HijackThis scans the computer and lists 'all' programs that are running. Computers not protected and cleaned regularly will have a list dozens of lines long of all the crap that's been installed. See Warning message but much can be deleted directly by HijackThis: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.php

If you can find the name of the keylogger, virus, trojan, worm etc, google it and you may find a list of sites where someone's posted the problem and hopefully been provided with a solution. Read thru all listings since some solutions may be simpler than others, also some solutions will provide a problem specific software to remove the problem.

http://www.mailwasher.net/ pre-view emails without opening them, delete suspicious emails, block emailer

Ask your ISP if they have anti-virus/spam and email protection software, many companies provide this for free.

In my experience no one program protects/cleans all 'viruses'. I'll never use Norton or McAfee anti-virus programs again. If there's too much crap on your hd, do a complete Reformat and re-install, load your firewall program first after installing the OS, then your anti-virus program, often a fresh clean start is the best solution.

Hi Neil....What kind of virus protection are you using?? & Do you run update AT LEAST every 2 wks.

I got BT broadband who supply Nortons firewall and anti virus. I have the BT Yahoo protection suite which has detected the keylogger and deletes it. I had not swept for several days prior to keylooger alert but I now sweep everyday. The moral may be to sweep everyday?

Thanks everyone for your help. I have added AVG to my arsenal now.

Beyond Keylogger is the most powerful surveillance and monitoring solution for home or office use. With Beyond Keylogger you can monitor every activity on the computer including chat conversations,e-mails,keystrokes,desktop activities, microphon and more. Have you ever thought who is your wife's "friend" she chats with all the time? With Beyond Keylogger you can read her chat conversations, look at her emails watch the sites she surfed to. Have you ever wondered why does your husband "work" on his computer so late at the night?

As well as your own Anti-virus, I use AVG on one of my machines and Avast! on the other, I think it is worth running one of the free online scanners periodically, I alternate between these two.

It's pretty well accepted that no one program either AV or Anti-Spy will detect everything and untill they remedy that I won't pay for one, rather run a selection of free ones

WinPatrol and Spybot have facilities to view startup and kill tasks. You can then uninstall and clean up the reg. Be careful in the registry.

.
If you created a restore point...immediatley prior to installing it.....in anticipation of the current situation, has that not worked............
No no don't tell me you didn't create one.

Famous last words........."How hard can it be?"

In your advanced folder options, enable 'show hidden files" then go looking for it, I'm surprised it doesn't show on the registry, though I don't know enough about computers, maybe things can be hidden there.
I didn't read all of that site, aren't there instructions there for remving it?

Neil, if you've still got this problem can I make a suggestion?

A full re-install of Windows takes 20-35 minutes, depending on machine. I will usually try to fix a problem for about an hour or thereabouts, at which point I start to look at other options.

Back up your critical data and format the disk. It'll save you a lot more trouble.
